MaulRat and Hang10Tiki thanks. MaukaHale be careful, you're dating yourself LOL

More work on my Giant Tile project. Picked up some bamboo from a local bamboo nursery. About 1.75 - 2 inches in daimeter. 1

I read AFTER my other bamboo project that you are supposed to treat bamboo to prevent insect infestation later. One of the methods was heat treating. I drilled a small hole in each internode to prevent the bamboo from exploding when heated. Then took a big propane blowtorch to it. As I understand the heat kills any existing bugs/eggs and also destroys the natural sugars in the bamboo that attract insects later. 2

Cut the treated bamboo to size and notched them so they fit flush together 34

I arranged the frame around the tiles and bolted them together. 8 wooden "bridges" screw into the back of the tiles and into plastic anchors in the bamboo. This keeps a space between the tiles and the frame. The "bridges" are painted dark brown to blend into the ceiling. (this is the ugly backside) 5

Hung from the ceiling. I've got green ropelights coming in a few days to put on top 67
