If you insist on carving a very wide mouth on your Jack, be aware that in only a few hours your pumpkin will collapse on that side due to the weight of the upper part not being supported. Better to leave two vampire-like teeth from top to bottom of the mouth to act as little pillars. The mouth will still be visually wide but is actually carved as three smaller openings and your pumpkin will last much longer. Smearing all the cut edges with a little Vaseline also gives Jack a much longer life!
