Here's a good reason not to sleep on Parrothead estate sales. The clown tiki may be a turnoff, but it distracts the Tommy Bahama crowd so that we can turn up interesting finds. At said estate sale The Wife was able to muscle her way through the crowd and come away with these glass floats, a cork line, nifty dress and other stuffs:

I had been unable to accompany her, but the following day we returned together fully expecting the place to be completely picked over. Wrong. We found more cork lines, a bunch of buoys that'd been overlooked by everyone plus...

...a replica whaling harpoon shoved into a corner, completely forgotten by everyone. It didn't even have a price marked. I asked how much and the estate sale lady looked at it with distaste and said "$12." With the second day discount I got it for $8. It's only a replica (aluminum toggle) but even replicas go for a lot on Ebay. I've wanted one for years and now I've got one. Yay me!
