Not totally on-topic to this fascinating conversation, but in regards to “ relevant to the intermixing of surf culture and hot rod culture 'in the day' was the Beach Boys. Prob the closest they came to tiki was the song 'Hawaii'..”: just wanted to point out that the Boys also had a song called “luau,” which was the b side of their very first single “surfing’.” |
