Perhaps someone more local can post more information. However I saw some things online about the "Redevelopment Plans" for Kowloon. They plan to tear down this iconic A-frame building and put up generic ugly looking apartments. Supposedly a new Kowloon restaurant will be included with much less seating. Here's a TV news report I came across. And a photo of the apartments.
