I still can't get the moai on the poles well enough, so I covered them over with paint. I'm adding enough paint to make the poles seem more substantial. Looking at photos here enlarge the work so huge every tiny hair that is painted looks like a mess. But what looks like 4 inches here is only 1/2 an inch on the painting.
