The original location was the Mecca Bar which is still open and running. Then it moved to the top floor of The Polaris building which has recently been demolished. It was my first tiki bar! I went there with my husband in the 80’s! We now go to all the tiki bars in Southern California that we can. I remember the view of Fairbanks from all the windows. It was not a dark bar. They had big peacock chairs. There was an oil drip lamp near the entrance.
One of my first blunders with my husband was standing up from sitting in o e of the chairs and having it fall and crash into the people behind me. I then managed to spill my water. He and I then made a b-line to the exit. Lol! They had the best barbecue pork appetizer with a spicy rest sauce and sesame seeds. I still crave it to this day. My first scorpion bowl was had there. I now have a replica. What a great place. I would really like to find some old pictures.
