"The Island is now in closure and will be turned back over to the Dept. of Wildlife Jan.2004. As far as I know the runway will remain, but no services will be available. They are only going to leave about 5 buildings for just a few people to use for research. eventually you will only be able to get there by boat. "

wow how interesting- theyre tearing the whole place down, covering it with sand and giving it back to the wildlife dept- check out the pics on the newer site:
