you should take it to mailboxes etc. I've shipped bigger stuff than this (and gotten bigger stuff than this shipped to me) for $50 or so.
(I bought 2 witco melanesian people on ebay for $20 :) and the shipping was only $20... box was over 4 feet long) - they were only $20 because the description-challenged seller listed them as "wood man and woman"
