Gay Pride festivals! FUN! A couple of summers ago me, my 5 year old son, a girlfriend who was VERY 8 months pregnant at the time, and her 12 year old son landed smack dab in the middle of a gay pride festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico on a summer road trip. Clueless as were were, not knowing what this fun party was all about we happily joined in the festivities! Theeennn, we saw the Dykes on Bikes parade, the drag queens were not far behind the bikes, dancing to madonna as they walked around the town square. Finally we started to get a clue. Duh! I looked down at my son, concerned that he might have some questions about what he was seeing. I asked him what he thought about this party and if he saw anything new or interesting he wanted to talk to about. He looked up at me and said ...Yea Mom, look over there see those two guys holding hands, they've got a 3 legged dog! A surprising and fun day that I will remember always!
