What I learned after 44 years...

Pages: 1 28 replies

It's this: try not to worry about anything but what happens within the next 24 hours (within reason that is).

You seriously don't have anything better to be doing right now?

After my 44 years,I've learned that you can't eat a whole pig in one sitting.Makes me feel better when I'm overwhelmed over something.

Viagra or Cialis?

In 37 years I've not learned much at all.
Guess by the time I hit 44 maybe I'll have learned something.

WAIT!
I have learned that the girls at the Nudey Bar do not like quarters in their G-Strings.

Hummmm...maybe I have learned something afterall.

HAH! I did that as a joke one time... she seemed pretty pissed. After I apologized profusely, she made me go in and retrieve it! That led to a whole other chapter - However I've never had the courage to try it again with a different dancer!

TTK

In my nearly 38 years I have learned that I know less and less every day that passes, that and that I can't eat a whole bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats like I use-ta coulda. Not a pretty after effect.

When you only know someone from posts on the internet, certain misconceptions can occur. however, after 48 years of life, 30 as a musician,28 as a Husband, 11 as a Father, 6 as a Union President and 2 as a Tikiphile, I know one thing...I like Tiki Bong's attitude, his responses and his humour, and I am totally pissed with those that don't get it. The end of free discourse is nigh if he has breathed his last scurrilous response. Grow up people.

Stratiki! I come to realize that you are an extremely intelligent, gifted, insightful, and bitterly-honest individual.

How odd, our statistical numbers are similar - I've been on the face of Earth 44 years, musician 31 (if you count Jr High orchestra), father 13 years (mother for about an hour after heavy drinking), and some other things I don't want to talk about.

Anyway, I now knight you Tiki Bong Squire!

Behold his brilliance all TC members.

Our official saying is: Live Aloha, or I'll kill you.

In the immortal words of Oscar Wilde: "I am not young enough to know everything."

In my 35 years of living (25 as a frustrated musician) I have learned that "The two most beautiful words in the English language are "check enclosed.""

(my thanks to Ms. Parker)

yikes! I have 2 yrs on Bong? For some reason I always thought there was a bigger age gap in the opposite direction.
:)

"it's not the age, it's the milage."

Almost 45 years on Earth, dear friend to my wife since 1972, dear husband ? 15 years, father for 13 years, pain in the ass 39 years, Bong's friend painfully to long.

What I have learned

Always remember not to forget
Punish in private, praise in public
Never get drunk at the company party
Under promise, over achieve
Where ever you go, there you are
Always marry your best friend
Stay in contact with friends
Buy expensive houses and cheap cars
Did you walk to school or bring your lunch
Work hard, play hard, die hard In that order
When it stops being fun, it's our fault
The only things to take seriously are the things that make you smile

POLONIUS:

Yet here, Laertes? Aboard, aboard, for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail
And you are stayed for. There, my blessing with thee.

And these few precepts in thy memory

Look thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.

Be thou familiar but by no means vulgar.

Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them unto thy soul with hoops of steel,
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatched, unfledged comrade.

Beware of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear ’t that th’ opposèd may beware of thee.

Give every man thy ear but few thy voice.

Take each man’s censure but reserve thy judgment.

Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not expressed in fancy—rich, not gaudy,
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,

And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

Farewell. My blessing season this in thee.

-- Polonius's farewell to his son Laertes, from "Hamlet"

I learned it's much easier to put the peanut butter on the bread before the jelly.
Try it, it really works!

It is not OK to have sex with your clients, even when it is in their best interest.

or your vendors, for that matter

I can totally relate to your post to my thread! Besides, I hate marshmellows.

Hey HEY
Bong is being mean to Marshmellows

Did you know that Charles is a
Marshafello

If you own the right kind of dog, any food that falls off the kitchen counter or table will never hit the floor. Marshmallows included.

I detest jelly (petroleum) in my peanut butter. Don't ask.

Sometimes I wonder if most musicians aren't frustrated.

I'm frustrated because althought I practice more that I sleep, I never seem to attain the skill those steel players of yesterday attained.

At times I want to smash my '51 triple-neck, eight-string in to a million splinters, and others times I want to caress is from stem to stern.

I loathe and love steel all at once...

You chose a tough little guit Bong, or it chose you. You know after 18 it starts to get tougher...keep slidin'

Indeed - I feel your angst.

I have a gold-plated sterling handmade Miyazawa Classic flute; heavy wall for more resistance and a rich, dark timbre. I relish playing... but flute players are a dime a dozen. Why couldn't I have played the bassoon instead.

(So I simply sell speakers and play on the side)

  1. Don't go to bed with a price on your head (don't do it!).

  2. Make the best of things... It's an up-hill climb!

  3. 1 + 1 = 3: Tony Orlando and Dawn, 2 names= 3 people?! Very Orwellian!

  4. Fish don't fry in the kitchen, beans don't burn on the grill.

  5. The world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right to you may not be right for some.

  6. Drive! Take to the floor 'til the engine screams!

  7. Television does influence our lives. Scary, eh?!
