I added a new feature: if you click on a link to a red-foldered topic (meaning a topic with new posts in it), that your browser will jump to the new posts (if there are new posts on the page you clicked). Is this helpful, or annoying? let me know; your feedback will help me decide if we keep it or revert it. ~Hanford |

Yeah it makes sense. Which would you prefer? Which is more useful more often? ~Hanford |

I agree with Cheekytiki. It works if you know what the post is about. I think it was fine before. I prefer it as it was. Cheers [ Edited by: Kon-Hemsby on 2004-10-22 05:37 ] |

I like the new feature. When opening a post, Most of the time you are up to date on it and have to navigate to the new entries. For the few times where that is not the case, it is easy to navigate to the page where you think you started anyway. |

New way. The basic phpBB has it so you can see new posts and go to them directly. Can you get that to work? That's ideal. |

Hanford, I'd like to see a function like that, but for when you post to a multipage thread. When you post to a multipage thread & click on "Take me to my message" it takes you to the first page & not to the message. |

can this be a feature you choose in options? so those who like it can have it, those who like it the old way can have it. "a little bit of both, really..." ( the british general in "casino royale") |

ditto to what Kon-Hemsby said. a handy feature would be the quick links back to Tiki Central Forum Index >>current forum>> at the end of the message (just like the one that appears at the top of the message) thanks for the continuous product improvement, Hanford ~ elicia |

Agreed. Also, back to the original question, if I am opening an old topic that has multiple pages, I usually click on the latest page number (page 2, page 3, whatever), so I can just read the most recent posts on the topic. Seeing a few old ones reminds me of the details and gets me back up to speed. Seeing only the newest one might be confusing though. |

I echo Benzart's view. |

I thought it was something wrong with my computer! Every time I opened up a thread, I would be down 2/3'rds of the way down the page. I closed my session and browser, re-accessed, only to find it was still doing it. Only later did I open the thread about the new function. Don't think I care for it, as I'm one for reviewing the beginnings of the discussion. Thanks Trustar |

It would be nice to set it as a preference so each user could enable or disable the feature. Personally I would disable mine. Seems unnatural to scroll backwards to read posts. |

Well, in the past, you could click on the icon in the upper-left of the page and it would take you to this point manually. I think I'll remove it. |

I'm not taken to the first post that I haven't read, I just get taken to the last post pretty consistently. |

The same thing is happening to me as well. I'm not sure I'm to thrilled with the new feature. |

I don't care much for the new feature either - I find myself having to "back up" to posts I haven't read rather than scrolling through posts I already have read! I'd pass on it being a permanent feature. For some reason, the original "goto" button at the top of each thread only works for me every so often - usually it doesn't work at all, so I'm used to scrolling down the page anyhow... |

It's all based on the little "posted" icons on the top of each message. Goto will take you to the first orange goto icon on the page. If your cookie login information is not correct, then the orange icons won't be correct, and therefore "goto" won't work. This new feature is based on the same idea. |

So that's what's going on. I thought my preferences were all screwed up... |

It was a good idea, but I usually start at the top & read all of the posts in order to make sense of it all. Now it skips really fast to the end & you have to back track & go to the top... I prefer the Old Skool way :) |

I like the old way. I usually read from the top down, especially on one's I haven't read in a while. just my 2 centavos |
