I know a very similar mug in a wood-feel brown glaze was made by Otagiri, which has not been on Ebay recently at all. This set of 3 different colored bug-eyed Moai mugs is unmarked. Does anyone know anything about them? Even if "John Doe" or "Joe Schmoe" made these in his basement, I still think they would be a cool addition to a Tiki mug collection...

I have one with a LATTITUDE 20, TORRANCE imprint, and I remember seeing one from the ISLANDER, STOCKTON.
In expression and style they are remarkably like the OUTRIGGER, MONTEREY mug (whose design was also used for HAWAII KAI, NEW YORK salt & pepper shakers..)

This all lets me conclude that they are an Otagiri design.

Yep, I have the Islander mug, and it is one of my faves. A classic in design and utility IMHO. Not too flashy or bulky, and a real simple but "gets the point across" Tiki mug.

So...I picked up these.

Here's another similar one on E-bay with the words "Myrtle Beach, S.C." on the back. Ever seen this one before?

I have one that looks like a cross between Sabu's picture (the same coloring - smooth/woodgrain- and features) and Midnite's (the way it widens out towards the bottom and has more of a 'blank' expresion rather than a smile), stamped "Castaway Geneva-On-The-Lake Ohio" on the back in gold. No labels - instead it is engraved with "MADE IN USA" in a circle on the bottom.

I think the ISLANDER mugs are always the best, most detailed molds...that goes for this one, for their pineapple, and for the Andres Bumatay that I have from the Hala Kahiki (BOT page 250).
I also remember seeing the Kelbo's mug (BOT page 178) as an ISLANDER, STOCKTON. Did they also have the tall version of that one?
Wonder if they had a menu with all the drink illustrations....

Bigbro, I thought I saw a menu of their drink illustrations in the BOT! Pg 162/163. I know that some restaurants changed their mugs over the course of time and as such, update their menus along the way.
