I found this mug at an antique mall. I've never seen one and was wondering if it was new, old, common, rare, etc. It had felt on the bottom so I couldn't see any makers mark. The guy at the store took a pic with a Poloroid Instamatic that I had to scan (thus the crappy quality). I had them put it on hold for a day, pending some research. Any help is appreciated. |

It's a Bumatay rendition, worth getting if the price isn't too outrageous. No more than $20, unless you really want the mug for it's aesthetic value, which is anything you desire. I'd get it if I could. |

Thanks Greg, I also thought it was a Bumatay knock-off. |

It's from a "home ceramics" mold. Probably by Duncan. There is one in a dark brown glaze on page 62 of Tiki Quest (second row from bottom, second from the left.) It's a cool design, and if it is done well, is a very nice mug. -Duke |

Thanks Duke - I looked through Tiki Quest last night, but must have missed it. |
