Your paintings are amazing. The Mug paintings look like photos.
I had secretly hoped that you wouldnt stop creating tiki art all together.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.

Flounder, you kick ass. My girlfriend is nuts over the containers.

Scott, I love your work, no matter what you do, so get painting!
I'm having withdrawal symptoms!

I've got a little travel bar that is seriously in need of your talents.

Flounder, we have Missed you and your work Terribly. Looking at it all now makes me realize how fantastic your art is. What people don't see however is the fun loving, cool, person you are and how much you contributed to TC. I would Love to see you around more often and seeing more work would be a Super extra bonus that I think All TC'rs would appreciate.

T

Nice to hear you might be doing more of these. Seeing them all together is great and it would be sad to see no more new Flounder tiki art. Wish I could afford one myself. But then I guess that's the reason you decided to stop.

Thank you Scott. I also love everything you do. Keep going

S

Scott-
All your paintings are incredible, tiki or not.
Paint what you want, but you certainly will not bum me out if you return to some tiki themed peices.
We love the Flounder tiki paintings gracing our walls, and could always use more.

I'm a very happy owner of 3 of the abstracts and one of the mug paintings. They look even better 'in the flesh' - you've a rare talent there Scott.

When we went to the Tabou Tiki Room in Berlin earlier this year, one of the first things I noticed was one of your paintings behind the bar. "That's a Flounder!", I confidently exclaimed to my wife, and indeed it was. The style hits you from a mile off.

Anyway, Tiki or not - keep that art coming!

I would like to encourage everyone to take a moment to check out Flounder's website, which includes his non-tiki art:

http://www.flounderart.com

While the tikiphile in me rejoices at the idea of more tiki stuff from you, Flounder, I have to say that the non-tiki art you've been producing lately is really stunning stuff. You are amazingly talented. When I see your art in group shows, it stands head & shoulders above most all of the other pieces in the show.

Produce what your artist soul wants you to produce, whether it's tiki or not, 'cause you know what you're doing. All I want to ask: please don't be a stranger 'round these parts, even if you're exploring non-tiki territory in your art!

I swear I had to double-take your mugs thinking they were stylized photos at first... You have a strong understanding of color and especially light to pull that quality off.

Out of curiousity, are you familiar with Michael Parkes oil works?

I thank all of you for your kind words and all the support.

It's weird I feel the need to paint at least one tiki painting, maybe it's all the support or maybe it's in my blood.

I hope to meet some of you at Hukialu this year. Don't miss it!!! It's the best time.

FlounderArt....Awesome paintings! Keep the pictures coming our way ....; )

Phenomenal.
You cranked a lot a work out last year! Love the abstracts, well, love it all.

Aloha Flounder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering were you are? I love your paintings , but we have been missing seeing your Killer paintings, hope you r back posting soon, Aloha , Mooney

Hey all. I just finished this "Munny" A Munny is a vinyl toy that you can paint. These ones will be in a show at Uberbot in Orlando FL.

Hope you all like.

B

Come on FLOUNDER, are you Sure that is not a bunch of Photos you took in some Toy Store? Awesome work. I am just Speechless. It has been so long since your fantastic brush strokes graced the pages of TC, I Almost forgot how moving it was.
Thanks BIG Time.

M

Fantastic work Flounder. I like the detail and how real they look. It's hard to tell what is 3D and what is painted. How tall are those?

I was going to ask the inches on those. They have to be the bigger artist ones. Did you have to buy them or were they supplied. I saw somewhere, where, you could buy one of them. The Dunny(bunny) and now the Munny and the car and mouse one. Are you in a group show with these or are you doing it independently

I have seen the different ones in past group show and these(yours) looks better then all the ones I have seen. Usually one can see the paintbrush strokes. Yours are so smooth. I saw on Ebay where they were selling artist munny and most of the names were unknown to me. You see it The Jeff Soto sold for over $700.00 dollars. I got a pic if you want to see it.
Great stuff

Holy crap, flounder! those are GENIOUS! I've never seen one of those munny dolls before...what is it made of? WHatever it is...you have left your midas touch.

Thanks, bro. we need more from you!

A

Munny i$ right.
With all financial success of the Dunny.
I'm not big on the whole vinyl toy scene and the crass commercialism of it all but you have done a fine job. Hope they fetch you lots of Munny$$$.

Good to see new work of your's.
Thanks for posting it.

I will take this off in a few days because its Flounders post and not Munnys. I think that I am going to buy one. I located a store near my house that sell them. You got me interested.

Flounder, I absolutely love it! Fantastic, and of course, I'm so glad to see that you're headed in the Tiki direction again. I agree with Humuhumu that your other work is utterly fantastic as well!

We missed you at Hukilau this year!! What happened to ya?

T

Thanks to you, I just went out and bought a Munny. I see that you posted at the munny website. Good news to hear what you won. Are you selling those munny. or sold those munny. I have to say the the Sputnik one is my favorite. Just think, your first time and they are the best ones I have seen. Big things from you.

Here's a couple new tiki pieces.

It is VEry nice to have your art posted once again here on the Creating pages, I Miss ya' when you're gone, don't stay away so long.

BP

Heyah those are unreal.
the eyes are great they remind me of Mark Ryden's work.
really impressive.

cheers

The head on that tiki painting is superb. That would make an number-one Tikifarm mug. The eyes are kind of my liking too. It would seem that the eye thing is a low-brow favorite these days. My favorite too. Love it.

OOOOOOOOOOOh..........flounder tiki stuff.... simply beautiful stuff, scott. That mug knocked me sideways! Your attention to detail is what gets me everytime. I have a feeling it will sell fast.... thanks for postin'!

Nice to see your excellent work again. Working out a new style, huh? I like the fact that you contantly are working out out new looks and style.

Thanks everyone!

hewey/ What thread?
teaKEY/ I love the head on this one too, I think it's my favorite. I have always loved to paint eyes.
Polynesiac/ You were right the show isn't till the 17th but the piece sold already.
kirby/ get another job so you can support me. haha
foamy/ I dont think it's a new style but it may have changed a bit. In my opinion art is about exploring and experimenting. Not doing the same thing over and over.

I have been wanting to paint tiki and you can expect to see more soon.

Thanks again.
