Had some cancer removed and now I know the healing process that evey tiki deserves.

Now to add flames.

Now a test in the dark

Very cool little guy. I missed him the first time around. Great work, flacookz. Love the torches - There's nothing like a tiki that actually performs a useful service!

The detail on the big-bro is unreal! It looks so good I found it hard to believe I was looking at a photo and not a computer generated piece of art! Wow! Beautiful work.

Very nice detail. I also thought that the large carving looked like it was photoshopped.
That little guy is very cool.

flacookz posted on 06/18/2005

The colors and stains are airbrushed on and sanded down to give them a weathered finished.

No I haven't ever worked for anyone, I only started carving last year after the Hurricane clean-up. i always wanted to but never did.

Thanks again for all the comments, some times I think that all of the coments are generated by bots because they are all so positive. But i don't mind. I really enjoy doing what I am doing and all want to do is share the experience. Because of this site I really learned a lot and I really enjoy the community feeling. Its like a brotherhood and sisterhood that shares in the festivities.

The weather was so I made 2 more and wasted several hours posing them. Hope some one enjoys these. I had the torches burning the whole time and they bearly used any fuel.

Thanks for look and comments are alway appreciated.
Screwed up the posting sorry.

I love the exploding personality your tikis have. Keep up the good work.

I also love the palm tree mosaic floor in that last shot. Is this yours?

F
flacookz posted on 07/19/2005

Thanks for all the comments. It is fun carving and when I share and get comments like this back from my peers... it really is fulfilling.

Yes the moziac was created by me and and my wife. I designed and then cut the tiles. she did all the glueing. Everyone that visits our house want us to do one for them. .... No way.

The tikis however are stacking up and when a friend comes by and says they want one I tell them to pick one out that they want.

I only have about 6 left but I have 6 more in progress. Great stress relief.

Hurricane season is in full swing so i figure that I will have an excess supply of logs.

Thanks again for all the comments and sharing.

A friend needed some decorations to hang around his pool for a party and liked Tiki Tony's Enchanted Tiki Mask "Tangaroa". Here are the versions that I created last night. Something new and props go to Tony for the inspiration.

All out of a 20" Sabla palm trunk w/ airbrushed stain to show the depth of the cuts.

Thanks for looking and try to stay cool in the Summer heat...
