Update 8/1 4:15 a.m. PDT Talked with Arty yesterday, and he is home again. They gave him a thorough checkout, and he's good to go for now. He is up and about, and taking short walks, which is wonderful. He said he will post to TC as soon as he gets a chance. Welcome back Arty!!! Update 7/27 4:38 p.m. PDT Just off the phone with Tina a few minutes ago. Arty is "OK", in the modern "move'em-in-move'em out" medical sense of the word. He's in his bed, not in intensive care, but he's uncomfortable, upset, and is looking for answers. The doctors have nothing definitive to say about his condition, other than that he's not critical and maybe he can go home tomorrow. Sort of a damned if you are, damned if you aren't situation. So, I'm hoping to get a chance to talk to Arty soon, and that any well wishes won't go unheeded, unnoticed, unrewarded... unwelcome. Keep'em coming if you can. Mahalo Nui Loa Update 7/27 7:00 a.m. PDT I was waiting to post this update in order to get more info from Tina, but I thought everyone might want to know so they can maybe eek out a few more good vibes for brother Arty. Kathleen and I went away for a long weekend, and when we returned Tuesday there was a message on our answering machine from Tina. Arty had been admitted to the hospital in HB, and was scheduled to get an angiogram Tuesday morning. That was all the info Tina left. I called and left a message Tuesday evening, but have not heard back yet. So maybe we can get a few mor prayers and thoughts out, to get Arty over the hump. Mahalo Update 7/22 6:40 p.m. PDT Arty, we all love you. Thank you for being with us,and we're here for you. Everyone at the Beach Burn will be thinking about you as they celebrate the life. Thank you for not going away. Mahalo! Update 7/19 10:30 a.m. PDT Checked my home voicemail from work, and Tina left another nice message saying Arty is doing really well! He still is having some difficulty talking, and he gets out of breath, but he's doing OK beyond that. And the best part is, they hope to have him home this weekend!! Tina also wanted to thank everyone for the many, many thoughts and prayers from the TC ohana. She knows it was a huge part of Arty's recovery. Tina also gave the go ahead to send well wishes to their home address. It's OK to send cards right away, but flowers or other perishables probably should wait until they are definitely home. Their address is: 16341 Eagle Lane Mahalo everyone for pulling our brother Arty through! Update 7/15 9:00 p.m. PDT The best news yet! Arty is off the ventilator, and is starting to talk with Tina, although in a semi-sedated state. Tina called an hour ago or so, and said things are really looking good, but she was cautious about being ready to call it a total victory. Please keep the thoughts and prayers coming, I think we may be coming into the home stretch. Mahalo, Greg Original message I just got a message on my machine from Uncle Arty's wife Tina saying Arty has had a pretty bad heart attack. He had a triple by-pass, and is in critical condition. My wife Kathleen is calling Tina to get more details, but Tina wanted everyone that knows Arty to send their prayers and positive thoughts his way. Arty has become a very good friend of mine over the past year, so if you can muster up some good mana that will get him through, we'd surely appreciate it. As soon as I know more, I will send it along. Mahalo Nui Update 7/14 1:30 p.m. PDT Great News!!! Tina left a message on our home phone, I just checked it from work. Arty had a very good night last night, and his heart is now beating on it's own. They took out the pump that was keeping it going, and he now just has a pacemaker. He's still on a ventilator, though. They also started taking him off the heavy sedatives, and slowly bringing him out. He was semi-conscioud this morning, opened his eyes, and he's responding to stimuli. Woo Hoo!! The message machine cut Tina off, so that's all I got for now, but I will try to call her again latr. Please keep those well wishes coming, as they are working wonders folks!! Mahalo, Mahalo, MAHALO!!! **Update 7/13 10:00 a.m. PDT - ** Just got off the phone with Tina. Arty is stable, hasn't gotten any worse, but not any better either. He's well sedated, but tries to wake up when they make any adjustments to his equipment, so he's strong in that sense. A pulmonary specialist will be in to see him this afternoon to determine the next course of action. Tina wants to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. She knows the positive energy can be felt and will help pull Arty through this hard time. She's doing well enough, getting sleep when she can, trying to stay healthy so she doesn't get sick and not be able to see Arty. Please keep them both in your thoughts, as I have since I got the news. Mahalo Nui [ Edited by: tikigreg 2005-08-01 04:13 ] [ Edited by: tikigreg 2005-08-02 17:27 ] |

Our petitions are answered because we ask; Mat 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is your faith! So be it to you even as you wish. And her daughter was healed from that very hour. We pray for Arty and his wife Tina and ask for his recovery, peace and comfort for the family and safe return to home. |

I'm not sure if I should be posting this but here goes. Arty REALLY NEEDS our thoughts and prayers......... Hi Ben, I got a few more details from my wife when she got home last night. I also spoke with Tina briefly. Arty is in a hospital in San Diego, where he had the triple bypass. They were in Mexico, he wasn't feeling well, so they called a doctor. He looked him over, and told him he needed to take nitro every 5 minutes. Arty collapsed at some point, and they called an ambulance, which eventually brought him to the hospital in SD. Tina said he suffered a second heart attack during the operation, but they were able to complete the procedure. The real problem is he's not able to beathe on his own and his heart won't pump on it's own, which shouldn't be the case, even with a triple bypass. So Arty is in grave condition for the next couple days, and he needs to start responding soon or things don't look good for him. I'm going to call Tina again later today to get an update. I will email you then. Thanks for the prayers from you guys. Arty really needs all the ones he can get. Talk to you later. ~ Greg |
