Wouldn't Garfield's claw just deflate Jim's pool? Sudden deflation wouldn't shrink it. This is a stupid cartoon. Wasn't Garfield funny at one time?

... agreed...

... though frames 4 & 5 remain somewhat mysterious... perhaps some chemical (or other) reaction could have occurred during these moments... why the cartoonist chooses to keep this information hidden from full view is wrong, all wrong...
