Just got back from the liquor store. We bought this crazy bottle of hooch called 'Nutz n' Rum'. Not only are there peanuts on the label, and a wacky 60's typeface, but it was the 'Gold Medal Winner Peanut Punch' at the Rum Expo 2000. BAsically, its water, sugar, rum, peanuts and milk. In one verrrry dusty bottle! Any serious ideas of what one might do with this (besides toss it off the balcony). |

Well, yes, there is that. But besides savouring it in a fine snifter while listening to some Vivaldi, what else can you do with the enigma that is Nutz N' Rum? |

The Hayman Distillers website (at http://www.hayman-distillers.co.uk/stlucia.htm ) offers this limited amount of info... Nutz N Rum is the only peanut and rum cream liqueur. With its wonderful smooth and creamy texture and delicious taste of peanuts, you will be transported to another place! A cream liqueur which you can have anytime, any place, and whatever the excuse. Nutz N Rum is a Gold medal winning product from the Caribbean island of St Lucia. Must be served chilled for true effect, and best over ice 12 month shelf life The September 2001 issue of "Got Rum?", an online Rum Magazine available at http://www.rumshop.net ( http://www.rumshop.net/newsletters/september2001.pdf ) included the following review... Now here’s an original idea: what happens when you mix peanuts (which happen to be considered an aphro-disiac in some Caribbean countries) with rum (which we all KNOW is the most sensuous of all distilled spirits in the world)? The answer is simple: you go NUTS over the result! Nutz N Rum, 30-Proof. When I first heard about this rum I thought “that’s crazy” and it is, but in a very delightful way! When you first pour this heavy-bodied drink into your glass, its thick, almost syrup-like consistency starts releasing a very genuine slightly roasted peanut aroma, followed by a sweet caramel undertone. Opens nicely and sweet in the palate, where it finally lets the rum inside make itself known. It is a light bodied rum, unaged more than likely, but with all the subtle characteristics that have made Saint Lucian rums famous around the world. Try this rum on the rocks or straight up as an after-dinner treat. I also found a few sites that suggested having it over ice-cream. Nothing about it seems "TIKI" but it does sound interesting! |

Why not just mix it with brandy? 1 ounce brandy shake and strain. |

It's now Castries Peanut Rum Cream, though I get the impression that the formula has changed a bit. Castries is fantastic, in any case. Delicious stuff. [ Edited by: Scottes 2008-08-22 04:10 ] |

Let's see... white wine with fish, Nutz 'n Rum with peanutbutter & jelly? Nutz 'n Rum also sounds like a home remedy for male genital herpes :P |
