Day 20. Another antique mall. One stall was chock-a-block with owl bookends. I had to discard a bunch of photos that were too blurry. Love this cookie jar. Lard bucket sentinel. Decanter. These two owls are dressed as sock monkeys for Hallowe'en. Daily total: |

Day 21. Goodwill: Small Daga mug (Maui Lu Luau) Value Village: That’s a pisco bottle to the left of the Pope (?) Bissel Store: I bought the Daga coconut (New Otani, Waikiki) and the large Daga tiki (Pat’s at Punaluu, Oahu). 50¢ for both. I didn’t buy the owl. Sally Ann: Daily total: -Sweet Daddy T. It's not Macra-May yet, but the Wooden Eyed Owl is occasionally spotted out of season! The Seaside Swooper Owl lurks in dark corners, awaiting his prey... usually old ladies. |

Well, I thought I'd do some Owl/Tiki thrifting yesterday and hit two Sally Anns and a Value Village here in Vancouver. Just to show how desperate the thrifting experience is here, I give you my tally: Tiki - 0 It seems Vancouverites love their owls as much as Tiki and are not willing to part with either! I suggest Ape-ril. (Loosely defined, to include monkeys.) And maybe a wildcard month, where searchers can select and tally their own sort of "personal demon" overpopulated item. Erika P.S. Anyone want to trade a digital camera for my extra Tiki Leilani mug so I can play too? |

Day 28. Goodwill: Wizard. Trivet. I bought the pick holder (?) on the left for 59¢. It's about 3" tall. Value Village: I'm not at all sure that thing on the right is an owl so I'm not counting it. Daily total: |

Was that an unwrapped chocolate bunny just sitting there at Value Village?! ew. We definitely should have a month for pigs. And cows. And steins. And most of all...clowns. Unfortunately, Vallejo is a BIG stein town. And it is also exquisitely untainted by that horrible, corrupting influence known to some as TIKI. sigh |

Wouldnt you know it, the day I went out sans camera, I ended up at an estate sale of a lifelong owl collector. It was OWLrageous! My mom and I estimated about 250 owls. Owl carpet. Owl curtains. Owl pictures, Owl mugs, owl plates, owl jewllery... it went on and on and on. It was like some strange, hallucinogenic, nocturnal feathered dream... |

well it's early Gnomevember and I already miss the owls! Sweet Daddy Tiki, takes my vote as Head Hooter for his almost daily posts and keen eye for our feathered friends. What did I take away from this past months experience? well.... 3 owl sweaters, 5 owl purses, an owl dress, 4 owl necklaces, an owl sweater clip, at least 7 owl patches, 2 fuzzy owls and an owl mug. Thanks for the hoots! |

oh geez, some school in Washington state issued a ban on rosary beads..and owls ~ because they could be a sign of "gang activity".. yeah, those nuns are a rough bunch.. the ban was rescinded a week later. "The district dropped the ban Monday, as well as bans on other symbols that had been placed on a new list of gang-affiliated clothing, including the owl, the numbers 13, 14 and 18 and several sports jerseys of famous players." |

Well you know what they say. Owl Macrame is a gateway hobby. Next thing you know its Gimp Braiding, and then they're off to shoot heroin. |

I can't stop taking pictures of owls. If I was tikifish I'd say something like "Lysergic Owl doesn't remember the 60s except in flashes" For the record, my stats for October were |

I know it's a bit early for Owltober, but this salt & pepper pair I found this week have to be the creepiest owls ever. |
