Chords for good uke tunes

Mahalos for posting "Red Opu" hellotiki! That's a great tune. I have it on a recording, which I believe is from a Dick McIntire (steel player) album, and always wanted to learn that one. Funny lyrics and just a classic.

My favorite online reference for leadsheets to traditional Hawaiian mele, hapa-haole tunes, and contemporary island jams is www.TROPICALSTORMHAWAII.com. Here you'll find a treasure trove of lyrics, standard changes, and popular substitutions. There's also a TAB archive for those of you interested in that.

Also I might suggest that you visit the Forums at FLEA MARKET MUSIC for advice and help from other uke players, news, and more.

Finally, I've found the Flaming Ukulele Radio Hour shows hosted by Uke Jackson at WNTI to be a great resource in terms of "what else" is out there!

Aloha! I am new to this site, (this is actually my first posting!) and I figured that this was a place that could help me with a problem that has plagued me for a while.

I am a sort of ukulele "hack." I love the instrument, and Hawaiian hapa-haole songs, too, but I am only beginning. I know 8 or 10 tunes okay, but I don't know music.

Anyways, I found this neat song from 1916, "Down Honolulu Way" by Earl Burtnett. I found sheet music but no chords. I believe this song would sound great on the uke. If anyone here could listen to the song and tell me the chords, I would be very grateful.

Some of the posts on this thread refer to "uke chords" when, of course, a "C chord" is a "C chord" no matter what instrument you play it on. Forming the chord is different, but a ukulele player uses any sheet music with chords and can play it by knowing, or looking up, the chords.
