Music download

Has anyone used the download service from EZMP3S.com?

I'm considering a subscription, but wondering what positive/negative experiences anyone has had. Also, how much Exotica is accessible? I've had very limited success with finding any variety with other services and EZMP3 doesn't let you search their database before subscribing.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I've had good luck finding exotica using a service called EASYNEWS.COM. It costs about $9.99 a month and it grabs anything people post on the USENET groups and stores it for about 30 days. There is a global search feature and in the music newsgroups alone there are literally hundreds of thousands of mp3 files to look for and download at any time. You can even combine your selections together into a ZIP file and download them at once.

Looking right now, I see off the bat that someone has recently posted the complete Les Baxter's "Space Escapade" and "Ports of Pleasure". I also see "Cocktail Music for Robots", Mel Henke's "Dynamic Adventures In Sound", John Buzon's "Inferno", The Three Suns "Fever & Smoke", Esquivel's "To Love Again", Bob Thompson's "Mmm, Nice", a bunch of Hawaiian 78s, tons of surf albums, etc.

Some of these are ripped from vinyl, some are cd copies. I personally sample a lot of music, including new music, from this site. If I like something a lot, I go out and buy the cd. If you have major qualms about downloading copyrighted material, then I wouldn't suggest it. Also, if downloading tons of free online porn to the detriment of your wife's sanity is going to be a problem, then I wouldn't suggest it either.

I also use EASYNEWS as my personal TIVO. If I miss a TV show the night before, I know that someone has posted a hi-def TV version of it to the Usenets the next day as a .avi file. I can download it and watch it at my lunch break. Saves me worrying about being home at night to catch the latest episode of Survivor.

Some people use this site to download the latest video games or business software. There's a lot of media files out there in all shapes and sizes. Some of it's legal, some is not, some hasn't been decided yet.

Thanks for the excellent advice!

I'll check it out. Unfortunately, I'm really new at music downloads and have had a very hard time finding some music on cd. On top of living in nearly Tiki-less Colorado, I've had limited success with finding cd's on the internet.

Regarding copywrited music, when does a copywrite run out on a song or album? Specifically I'm looking at Frank Hunter's White Goddess album and wondering that since the album hasn't been reissued, but a few of the songs have appeared on compilation albums, if downloading the album is legal.

Again, thanks for the help

Sabu, do you know what newgroups you are finding stuff in? I just run Agent through my local RoadRunner account for newsgroups, so there is no global search...

Thanks!
