At least it's all different types of Reggae, most people don't know anything past Bob Marley's "Rockers" era. The first time I played the Wailers' "Simmer Down" my Wife & Daughter complained that I was playing Mariachi music! |

One of my favorite bands. Used to see them on the Cabaret circuit in Philly many years ago. So many great gigs. They were so accessible to their fans too. I spoke with Ed Cassidy for a long time one day after Randy's untimely death, drowning after successfully rescuing his son Quinn from a riptide near their home on Molokai. They were so close. http://www.randycaliforniaandspirit.com/ |

I have that problem, too. Right now if I pull out 10 songs at random on my iPod 99% of the time one is Korla Pandit, "Mississippi" Fred McDowell, Lee "Scratch" Perry and/or The Fall. |

After watching last weeks Soprano episode that concluded with a John Doe / Exene song "The 4th of July" I've been listening to a lot of X lately. I forgot how much I loved those guys. The offbeat mixture of John & Exene's voices is somehow edgy and comforting at the same time, kinda like a Black 'n Tan. |
