Listening right now to Haole Kats! new surf CD being recorded.

Kanekila laying down the sweet steel over the rancorous guitar and jungle tom-toms.

Some very cool originals on this project.

More news soon.
Maybe I can talk them into putting a rough mix mp3 here.
Or I could just do it and ask forgiveness later.

yeah... that always works

I stole it.
"Enchantment."

It's a rough mix but still awfully sweet.
Love them Kats.

Sweeeet!!! That sounds so smooth, it makes me think of sitting by myself on the beach watching the waves with a smile on my face while I think about my wahine.
Way to go Kats, and thank you Pablus. Hope you don't get into trouble!

If there is a waiting list for that CD, consider me on it.

HK

Pablus -- Technically, we stole it first...from Robert Drasnin that is!

This is the most laid back tune of the 12. The rest of the disc is pretty high-energy. I can't wait to hear the mixes once Pablus works a bit of his mojo.

We'll be sure to keep everyone up to speed....I'm thinking this baby's gonna be ready pretty darn soon.

Josh is right in that this is least 'surfy' tune on the CD. In fact, the majority is pretty raucous. We have one other tune on it that's an original I wrote called "Rising Moon," which is dark and moody, and has that jungle beat thing going on. We're about 99% sure that will be the title track.

We've had so many clammoring for us to do a surf CD that we finally decided to get in and do it, especially since Pablus has such an amazingly nice studio. I think folks are going to really dig it.

Yummy!

Me and the Mrs. were just talking about how we can't wait to see you guys (Pablus included, of course!) at Hukilau. You think the disc will be ready by then?

HK

Traitor Vic -- The disc should be available in just a few weeks. We'll be sure to post an announcement along with some clips.

So when?!?!

I'm addicted and need a fix...I just keep playing the Hawaii 5-0 track over and over...

HK

Helz -- soon, braddah, soon...we've got 1, maybe 2 days of work to do before we send it out to get duped...that only takes a few days. We'll be sure to post an announcement.

Glad to know some folks are looking forward to it!

I spent the last few days with Pablus mixing/editing the tunes for the CD. Pablus is The Master...

There's a new page called "Surf Music!" on the http://www.whollycatsband.com website. It has a pic of the cover art and song list. The title track, Kilawaimea, SHOULD play when you open that page. I get it to work, but only with IE. Can't seem to with Mozilla - ??

Anyway, it's very, very close to being duplicated and ready to go. We're just getting a few final things finished up. We'll let y'all know when it's 100% done, but thought some might want to hear the title track, and see the cover.

Aloha!

Great! That title song is terrific and I love the cover. When I saw the Kats at Exotica last year they played some of this stuff and it was incredible! And if you think that you have seen everything on guitar, wait until you hear Josh play Flight of the Bumble Bee, WOW! Looking forward to owning a copy, and seeing you in Chicago and Milwaukee.

Any news yet?!?! I'm wearin' out my CD player's repeat buttton!

HK

The disc is recorded, mixed and mastered...the artwork is finished...I believe TJ brought the master up to be dupliucated today. We should have them by the weekend.

If anyone reading this asked to be on the waiting list, please send me a reminder e-mail. I think I forgot to add a few folks that asked.

Josh,

I was checking out the samples to do a write up on Tiki Talk and noticed that there aren't any clear instructions on how to order the CDs. Am I missing something?

HK

Hot Lava - That was my fault...I forgot to put up ordering details when I last updated the site.

If anyone would like to order a copy, please e-mail me at [email protected]
