P.S. I recently downloaded music from a band called Nouvelle Vague off of itunes. They do covers of a lot of new wave songs (ex. Killing moon, Making plans for Nigel, etc.), but with kind of a bossa nova/ lounge feel. Some of the covers are better than others, but I think a lot of them are pretty cool.

I'm pretty darn sure I saw this when it aired originally, and was no doubt curious as hell. The reporter has a few facts mixed up: Punk music 'born in Britain'...don't think so. And is it my imagination or did the media take the things that young people were doing, musically that is, more seriously than they do today? I think older people were confounded by some of this stuff. Same for the music in the 60s. Could that possibly happen today? My vote is NOPE!

I grew up listening to Rock and heavy metal from Jr high on.
but before I got into Music on my own I was hanging out with my Unkle sometimes, and he was in high school here in So. Cal. and listening to KROQ alot. When the Heavy Metal station here in LA went off the air in the early 90's I switched over the KROQ as they were playing grunge and stuff like that. But at lunch and sometimes on the weekends they'd do the flashacks to the 80's. I remembered all the 80's new wave stuff, and went and picked up some of the new wave comps.
and one of my favorites was Oingo Boingo, I saw them 6 times before they broke up and got all their cd's and some 45's and 10 in reocrds too.
Also like Talking Heads and Wall of Voodoo, but don't have alot of thier stuff.
