Blasters in the midwest

Any "Centralites" planning to see the Blasters in Chicago or Milwaukee in early August?
The 4th at Fitzgeralds in Chicago and the 5th at Shank Hall in Milwaukee.
One of my all-time favorite bands so it looks like ole Conga will make the trek from
the northwoods. Looks like Chicago might work best for me.

i'll shoot for fitzgeralds....

I don't know the Blasters, but I would shoot for Chicago too since nobody on earth should have to endure a show at Shank Hall. Although I would take Shank Hall over the Eagles Ballroom anyday. If someone wants to make a billion dollars they should build a place in Milwaukee for bands to play that doesn't make your skin crawl for a week.

When were you last at Shank? I saw Frank Black there a couple years ago... seemed fine to me.

I'd rather see someone at Shank than The Riverside or the casino. Cheaper tickets and more intimate.

Conga... shoot me a PM when you're coming down... you can have a drink with me here at Hale Nalu. I should have the 8 foot Ku done by then too.

Ok, I admit, it's been many a year since I've been to Shank. I saw Frank Black there too, about 8 or 9 years ago. The last show I saw there was Mike Watt about 6 years ago. I've even played there a few times with bands I was in. You are right about the intimacy, I've often seen shows there with my arms resting on the stage by the bands feet. You have to agree with me though about the Eagles Club, there is no worse place to see a band than that.

C

Blasters in Chicago. WOW!

Great shot of Dave and the vintage (Kay)? guitar. I feel fortunate to have caught them once long ago, about 1980 at the Cal State Long Beach campus pub. Playing for a small afternoon crowd--they were all but unknown then. They certainly have had the tenacity to stay together all these years through their various incarnations.

Glad you had a great time!
