Here they are, all oiled up, and drying out in the sun.

This one looks great, maybe just a little touch up needed at the top.

I'm really happy with how this one turned out. Just needs a little touch up on a few tiny spots.

This one still has some significant bare spots, either from the oil soaking in completely, or from the old polyurethane finish that was on on there. Either way, it probably needs one more full coat.

You can see how the eyebrow crest looks bare. More oil should do the trick.

Fun with puffer fish.

First up, green.

Here is the puffer, sitting on the other side of the lamp, rather than inside it. The light has to shine a farther distance and through two pieces of glass, but it helps give an idea of what color would look good inside. While green initially looked good, it didn't really jump out when it was behind the globe.

Next up, blue.

Blue ended up being even worse looking behind the globe than green.

Time for red. Red looks great.

Red really looks good in low light conditions, and photographs well in low light conditions too. So far it's the best contender.

Next up, my favorite, amber.

Amber really brought out the detail in the amber globe lamp. It really popped when it was behind the globe lamp. Plus it adds a nice vintage touch. I'll be going with this color.

Last one, white.

White photographed the best, but to the naked eye it was harsh. In comparison, amber looked better, so I'll go with amber instead.

I particularly like the shot of you drinking ranch dressing through a two foot scorpion bowl straw while simultaneously holding a lit cigarette in the same hand. Now that's multitasking!

I haven't opened up an ooga mooga account because the last time I posted a pic of that teak mug cabinet that I picked up at the TV warehouse sale, I was immediately hounded by other fellow mug weirdos, wanting/demanding a couple of the mugs in there, and had to pull the pic.

It's all about the measured pour, Suzanne. If you will notice, it is also the same color as a baby aspirin, so maybe you're on to something there. The Orange Sherbet part is true, photos don't lie. Mel, Jessica, and I were all in agreement that the Orange Sherbet was the most redeeming part of the drink, though. Here's how things look from my point of view.

If you thought that the Trad'r Sam Volcano was bad, then you have not tried the Tonga Room Scorpion Bowl. I think it qualifies as the worst tiki or non-tiki cocktail that I've ever had. And of course, I ordered the Scorpion for two, 'cause that's how I roll, and could find no takers to help me finish it off.

So I decided to pair the Scorpion Bowl with the lovely buffet.

Everyone was having a good time. If you have not wandered around the inside of the Tonga Room, then you need to do that, poste haste, because the place is amazing inside, even with the recent refurbishments.

Let this be a warning: whatever you do, don't order the Fizzy Lifting Drink!

Time to head out to our last official San Francisco stop:
