When I was growing up in Oxnard my friends parents both worked at the local Seabee base. They took me on vacations with them and they were my second family. (quote) |

For more information about the incredible days of the OSS, you can read "A Man Called Intrepid" or watch the harrowing movie "13 Rue Madeleine", starring Jimmy Cagney, no less. "13 Rue" is extremely accurate, violent, and neo-realistic; it's amazing that it was filmed at all. My family comes from a small town in Canada which hosted the WW2 airfield that landed most of the agents coming and going from Camp X. The flying field is still there, right down to the target bunkers, but of course Camp X was razed to rubble in the latter days of 1945. |
