Cast stone Tiki Statue: Portland OR

Thank you. Indeed, this is a good example of all that is wrong with Poly-Asian carvings: Not only is the body too naturalistic and human, it is also too large in relation to the head. In Polynesian art, the head, as the seat of mana, was always oversized.

Weird, I couldn't get any of the site pages loading this morning.

The statues are from Bali. I know they aren't strictly traditionalist tikis, but they do add a certain island feel to the place. It was one of those surprise shipments.. you know, where the packing list says 'primitive statue'. :)
