I realize this is of value only if you're in or near Portland Oregon but I know this dedicated audience should not miss a chance at these tikis.

Those things are NICE! I wish I was going to be up that way (and that I had $300).
Cheers.

Get on over to Tiki Tuesday at Teardrop Lounge on Feb. 19th!

Nice statues, where from originally?

Judging by the human torso and limbs....Asia.

Thank you. Indeed, this is a good example of all that is wrong with Poly-Asian carvings: Not only is the body too naturalistic and human, it is also too large in relation to the head. In Polynesian art, the head, as the seat of mana, was always oversized.

This guy looks like one of those chubby baroque putti with a Ku mask propped over his head:

Aloha all,

Weird, I couldn't get any of the site pages loading this morning.

The statues are from Bali. I know they aren't strictly traditionalist tikis, but they do add a certain island feel to the place. It was one of those surprise shipments.. you know, where the packing list says 'primitive statue'. :)

I've been lurking here so long.. just a note to say thanks to all for this site. :)
