Yup, I've got one for you...www.LuxuriaMusic.com Lux was originally co-founded by myself and The Millionaire (of Combustible Edison). In 2001 our parent company was bought by Clear Channel and they gave us the axe within just a few months. Boo Hoo. But now we're back! Our playlist consists of the usual lounge exotica type stuff as well as bollywood, 60's soundtracks, old commercials, celebrities at their worst, bossa nova, childrens music... The site itself doesn't look so good right now because we're spending all of our time TWEAKING the stream. But soon it'll have a new improved look, as well as "magazine" articles, message boards, a chat room, etc. You'll need to have the Windows Media Player installed on your computer in order to listen. And dont worry Mac users...there's a Windows Media Player for Mac. Get it, and you'll be able to listen too. Eventually we'll probably have a Real Player stream available too. Have fun. How about the fabulous Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge! Broadcasting Exotica all day, featuring all the usual favorites: Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Don Tiki -- as well as some rare tracks from the likes of Tak Shindo, Frank Hunter, Webley Edwards, Ted Auletta, Eden Ahbez and many others. We also mix in the occasional instrumental Surf track to keep it real. Each evening Vic also broadcasts The Space Age Bachelor Pad -- an eclectic mix of Lounge/Cocktail, Spy/Crime, and Space-Age music from Mancini, Esquivel, Hugo Montenegro, Perry-Kingsley, Dick Hyman, and much more. So, Mai Tai or Martini -- we got you covered. Aloha, |

I added some more Arthur Lyman and a lot of Yma Sumac the other day. I was in a hurry and had to go to work. I'm sorry some of it isn't exotica but I'll weed out the culprits soon. Happy Listening! |

Hey, I'm doing a namechange to Stunned. I've also added new music to my radio station and I've added a few specialty shows to my lineup. Every evening from 7-9 p.m. is Modern Exotica. A sampling of exotica since the 60's. http://www.live365.com/stations/stunrut Then from 9-11 p.m. is Exotica Wannabes. Exotica performed by artists that are primarily non exotica artists. Also, Sundays from noon to 4 is the Peace of Hawaii show. This has music with a more Hawaiian slant with a few oddities thrown in. [ Edited by: Stunned on 2003-06-04 13:12 ] |

Mai Tai’s John T. on LuxuriaMusic.com starting May 2... "And for my mid-life crisis, I decided to become a radio dj..." Yup, after more than a year of making guest appearances on the Lounge King Show here in Montreal, I have been asked to put together a short (15 minutes) weekly show for LuxuriaMusic.com Internet Radio. Like my recent Lounge King appearances, the show will be called "Thrifting for Tunes" and it will be recorded behind the bar here at my Mauna Loa Lounge. The show features an eclectic selection of music from here, there and everywhere... From thrift shops, to record stores, to church bazaars, to the World Wide Web – if it’s out there, it’ll make its way into the lounge and out to you on Thrifting for Tunes. The first show is just a little intro to the Thrifting for Tunes concept and a sampling of various types of music that may pop up on the show in the future. Other episodes to come (in May) are more thematic and feature early electronics, spaghetti western soundtracks, film noir music, and Italo-American exotica. Whenever possible – which means almost always – each segment will end with an exotica track or something from the Polynesian Pop repertoire. Why am I doing this? Well, because they asked. Plus, I'm always listening to music anyway, so I figured, why not share it...? Complete info can be found at http://www.luxuriamusic.com. I’ll be posting playlists on the TUNES! page at http://www.maitaionline.com (the info there now is about my Lounge King appearances; it will be updated shortly). So there you have it... |

I've been enjoying the "Retro Cocktail Hour" on Kansas Public Radio for years. Bad name, great show. Description from the web site:
I'm a member of Live365 and enjoy listening to the Swank Pad Lounge, The Bachelor Pad, Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge and Naked City, The Green Lounge, SounDelicious, and fluffertraX - porn soundtracks! Plus about 30 great other stations that play old country, rockabilly, 60s soul, psych, garage, etc. In heavy rotation through Airtunes in my pad right now is Ponderosa Stomp Radio on Live365. |

The Retro Cocktail Hour is indeed awesome! I, Zombie's Jet Set Planet consistantly blows my mind - if you haven't already definitely give it a listen. He sure has an eye (and ear?) for those lost and forgotten gems. I just wish I knew how to get my basement bar area wired so that I could listen to the streams coming from my computer upstairs. =( |

Do you have WiFi in your house? Do you have a PC or Mac? If you have WiFi and a Mac you can get at Airport Express for $120 and connect it to a stereo receiver in your basement (I have found good inexpensive ones at thrift stores), then play live365 and other streaming audio with iTunes and hear it through the stereo speakers. For the PC there are similar products like the Soundbridge by Roku that work with a WiFi connection. |
