In response to Swanky's posts, I thought I'd share a couple of good Internet radio stations (don't forget Swank Pad, of course): Space Age Tiki Time (Exotica): http://music.msn.com/Genre/Default.aspx?genre=26# Internet Radio Hawai'i (Hawai'ian music, new and old): Anyone else have some to share? |

I have links on my broadcast page to my favorites, but I'll say here: On live365 (no access here at work to look) cool guy's Tropical Tiki something or other. It is not "our kind of tropical." Almost light jazz. But it is very nice and relaxing. Would do for background music in any tiki scene. A little self promotion. I have an all Exotica playlist that is in rotation. I can't tell you when it's on. It's just sort of "when I decide to start it." If anyone has a request to listen at some regular time, I can set that up. I made it to promote Hukilau, but I will keep it updated and going for a while. When we get time, we'll be adding more vinyl exotica to it in the next few weeks. June 20th the Library of Congress will let us all know if we get to keep broadcasting on the Internet. Please get informed and support the cause or all Internet Radio could end as soon as this month. |

I was listening to KLON jazz radio station yesterday afternoon earlier than I usuall do 'cause I was on the road for work. Friday is Latin jazz day at KLON and I am used to listening to Jazz On The Latin Side in the evenings. But int he afternoon before the Latin show they have an Exotica show! I heard tracks from Esquivel, Martin Denny, Senor Coconuts, Xavier Cugat and the Exotic Sounds of Don Tiki and it was great! KLON FM 88.1 is based in Long Beach, CA and can be heard in most of the major Los Angeles and Orange County area. It can also be heard on the web at... I don't know the exact hours of the exotica show. |

I should have checked with the website first. The show is called "Madly Cocktail" with host Kat Griffin and airs Fridays from 4 - 7PM and Sundays from 9-11PM. |

Of course! His tune "Mini Skirt" is the theme to my program. I would be nowhere if it wasn't for the king of space-age bachelor pad music. Keep Swinging! |

http://www.luxuriamusic.com has got a fine stream going. The selections are very broad, but an incredible source für interesting and obscure lounge, exotica, latinjazz, surf and related music. Check it out! KK |

Thanks TK Have not got into much of the "radio" portion of I-tunes before. As a big Bond fan, I love the little inserts they put in from the Bond movies. What more can I ask for, but a new ice crusher. Trustar |

Kaua'i Community Radio: http://kkcr.org/live/live.html Sweet Hawaiian tunage. The mornings shows seem to be on the mellow side , but a great way to start the day. Almost feels like your on the islands. Local surf and weather reports and Hawaiian words and sayings for the day. Very cool. I am one of those lucky people who can listen to internet radio at work. Thanks for all the station listings everyone! I frequent Live365 and have a nice list of stations. Swank Pad, Vegas Vic's and Bachelor Pad are my favs, which we all know about. But there are a few others I enjoy. Haku's Hawaiian Hale http://www.live365.com/stations/hakurama And for some fun lounge stations: |

Thanks mel for the recommendations! I too listen at work, mostly to Vegas Vic's Tiki Lounge. Its funny, people come into my office and hear bird calls and steel guitar and are momentarily confused. I love it! |

Another good one is The Retro Cocktail Hour from Kansas Public Radio. It's a weekly show, but their site keeps links to the 4 prior shows too. They often do themes , and provide interesting background and trivia as well. I enjoy it. I don't know what I'd do without internet radio. There's almost no radio where I live, and what there is amounts to classic rock and country for the most part. I work at home in my shop mostly, and am one of those people that needs radio while I work. I am a huge fan of Live 365, with their vast range of... , everything..., and most of the previously listed sites too. I suppose I'd have to bite the bullit and go with yet another monthly subscription fee and get satelite radio if it wasn't for the great stuff on the internet. Does anyone have it, and recommend it? |

EXACTLY! My favorite is when there are native chants on. My coworkers look at me like I am going to attack them and offer them to the Gods!! Oh, and you are totally welcome! Every month or so I check to see if there are any new stations and usually find a few more :) |

I wanted to resurrect this thread about internet radio stations. Since I deal with customers most of the day over the phone (technical support on accounting software), I need some calming music playing in the background. I find the programming on AlohaJoe.com gives an excellent mix of Hawaiian contemporary (Keali'i Reichel, Bradda IZ, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Barefoot Natives), hapa haole, and Hawaiian oldies, and just a touch of exotica thrown in. Aloha Joe broadcasts live at 9am to 11am each day (from the LA area), and has repeats of his show throughout the day and on weekends. Maybe we can get him to play a bit more from King Kukulele, Mai Kai Gents, Haole Kats, Martini Kings, and bands we like to hear! Check out the AlohaJoe at: http://www.alohajoe.com. It uses WarpRadio to broadcast over the net. Aloha, and good listening! |

Koop Kooper's shows are excellent! He interviewed me about my solo project the Tiki Cowboys recently on show 70, so check that out along with all the shows he has made. Well worth hearing all the cool tiki tunes and lounge exotica from a "down under" perspective. I have made copies of some of the shows to play and chill out to. No way I could find all those songs and find out about new artists too. Great Job Koop! |
