http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=160267871270&Category=29223 This is not my auction, but I have this edition and I love it. The listing above has pics of all the color plates and the binding is spectacular. This is definitely a book that belongs on your shelf. Melville loosely based the book on his own experiences and it was a huge bestseller and started his career before Moby Dick was even a glimmer. It was also the first introduction for the American public to the romanticized version of Polynesia that we all celebrate today. Here's a pic of the binding from the post: [ Edited by: Trader Tom 2008-08-02 00:46 ] |

Here's a second auction listing that popped up and it looks like the same edition as above. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150279318990&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005 |

Very interesting. Never heard of Heritage Club before, but this copy looks great. Both are '63 reprints -- I wonder if the '35 edition has the same artwork? Of course you know what this means? Another whole series to collect ... add that to Modern Library and Harvard Classics and that means we need more shelves! |
