A Hula Girl in Tapa Cloth [NSFW?]

I started out making a maze using tiles and random noise

I realized that if I replaced the random noise with a grayscale mosaic, and hand drawn tiles, I could make a portrait in something resembling tapa cloth

When you view the whole thing small, it tends to look like computer ascii art.
Thought you might be interested, anyway.

It's nice to see large. [4096 x 4096]

Right on!
Tiki thrust into the Technological Age!
It DOES look cool BIG!
tre cool!

neato

thank you :)

I tried it bigger, and I rotated every other tile 90 degrees in a checkerboard weave pattern.

I also tried a color scheme that took its cues more from the original photo.

...and I made a video

I have it at 4096 x 4096. That's enough resolution to make a nice album cover for some exotica band... just sayin' :D
