I started out making a maze using tiles and random noise http://www.digitalartform.com/archives/2009/05/make_a_maze_in.html I realized that if I replaced the random noise with a grayscale mosaic, and hand drawn tiles, I could make a portrait in something resembling tapa cloth When you view the whole thing small, it tends to look like computer ascii art. It's nice to see large. [4096 x 4096] [ Edited by: tiki moon 2009-05-29 17:13 ] [ Edited by: tiki moon 2009-05-29 17:14 ] |

I tried it bigger, and I rotated every other tile 90 degrees in a checkerboard weave pattern. I also tried a color scheme that took its cues more from the original photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/digitalartform/3574820313/ http://www.digitalartform.com/archives/2009/05/scar13_hula_mos_1.html |

...and I made a video I have it at 4096 x 4096. That's enough resolution to make a nice album cover for some exotica band... just sayin' :D [ Edited by: tiki moon 2009-05-30 22:59 ] |
