I found each of these for $1 today

These were each $0.25 and there are 8 total:

And I found these glass "Spike-Stirs" in a box of junk at a thrift for $0.50. Plastic cellophane is missing but they are all in awesome shape. I included the back so you can see clearly what each one said. They were used to mark your drink:

I guess this is as a good a time as any to contribute to this thread

Got these beauties over the weekend yardsales....:)

Siesta Ware Outrigger set.

Nice Flamingo's

I love long weekends!!!

I have red ones that are marked "Tiki Gardens Disneyland"

Oh how I love vintage ice crushers. I esp love anything that reflects the obsession with space people had in the 50s such as the red and white "rocket" metal crusher. That sucker weighs at least 3 pounds! Each $2

Un-derailment completed.

How about Detroit's obsession with space & rockets! God I love my car!

I understand how you MUST show off the awesomness of your car but MUST you derail this "Vintage Barware" thread Mr. Kahuna? hmmmmmmmmm??
I say you throw some cocktail shakers up on the dash and then I will allow the derailment!

Damn car guys! How's this?:

I still love my car!

Too much fun with reflective surfaces!

I want those bowling pin swizzles.I have looked and cant find any. If you see another set you can send them to me :)

I have 3 sets of those Libbey carousel glasses. Some antique store here wants $140 for the set!

I sold 2 other sets on EBay for like $30 each.

Those were Mom's & I cherished them as a kid. Listen, I work in an auto parts store, drive a '59 Chevy & play hockey! Sue me if I feel the need to indulge my softer side with some "girly" glasses!

Found these today for $8

4 50's Rocks glasses

Glass from "The Pussycat"--whatever THAT was!

leleliz -

The Pussycat glass you have came from the famous Pussycat Theater chain..

They ran adult movies. Usually a pink building with the Pussycat logo over the marquee.

Hollywood used to have a famous one, which closed a long time ago.

I have a duplicate glass if you need it.

L

Oh cool thanks for all that info! I figured it had to be an "adult" something or other

H

Uhm, sorry to post this don't want to gross anyone out or anything :D :D :D.
I posted this in another thread long time ago.

Nice matchbooks. It just so happens, my latest find fits right into this theme. Hit a very kool retro store last Thursday & came home with these:

Thanks for this info! I have one of these glasses as well, I just thought it was some random 1970s era bar. I'd say the glass has much more cachet now that I know the truth!

Nothing too rare here, but I figured I'd post 'em.
Beehive Ice Bucket
Daisy Ice Crusher
Rocks Glass
and the thing all the way to the left isn't actually barware, but the atomic shape of it was just too cool not to post. It's actually an ice cream maker called a "Smoothie" made by the Ralmac Corp in Grand Rapids, Mich. It appears to use some type of Co2 cartridge. It looks like a cocktail shaker.

 Two years later & the knucklehead that started this thread finally posts! Nice to have you back, Luke. Hey! Don't you have a publishing deadline to meet? Didya see my Ice Nudes?

I figured I was gonna get hammered on that one! :)

Yeah, deadline came and went. Oh well, need a break sometimes and this is the perfect place to relax.

I expect one of those ice nudes in my drink at the next Idol Mixtures meeting!!!!

You got it! If, I can figure out the instructions. Yes, they really do have instructions!

Picked up this little Playboy Club rocks glass at a thrift, last week.:

I'm not sure if this qualifies as barware, but here goes. It spins, lights up & keeps perfect time!

I've got a bit of a Schaefer theme going!

I personally like Shaefer Beer, but it's wise to drink it before it turns.

Turns to what?

charlie weaver look alike battery bartender

and a couple 50's ceramic haging fruit shaped ash tray/planters.

A skunky brew that's not worth drinking.
I know, it's a bargain beer that will give you the green apple quickstep.
Not so for everyone. Try it, you might like it.

Spent a buck apiece on these 2 items! The venerable penguin ice bucket:

A very nice smaller mug similar to the ones in the stripper mug set I scored last year:

Her she is next to one of the full size mugs:

I use to have tons more.. but I've really tried to downsize. I'll try and post better pics once I get a new camera.

..nice shot of my martini lamp too!! thanks!

Over the weekend I attended a film convention. During "Lover Come Back" (1931--NOT the Doris Day film), the lead roue pulled out a zeppelin cocktail shaker. What a beauty!

And since it was a pre-code film, he didn't have to pay the ultimate price for having such a lovely piece and consuming illegal substances.

I bought this the other day for only $1. It's a ceramic drunk pink elephant decanter made in Japan.
Stands about 10"high and is in mint condition. I like that it has a handle on the back.

I am wondering if that glass is actually not from the porn theater but is instead for a cocktail called the Pussycat. I say this b/c I am in PA and am seeing these glasses frequently, so I wonder how many could have migrated here from Calif. That and b/c on the back of the envelope for Bartenders Whiskey sour mix there is a recipe for a drink called a Pussycat and it says you have to serve it in a Pussycat cocktail glass. (The drink is a frozen whiskey sour basically).

L

I have wanted this for awhile now and seen them go for $25 and up. Today I found this at a thrift for $1.49 ...score!

Its a bartending guide from 1941 that is bound in wood and features hundreds of recipes all with really kitschy line drawings.

Only draw back is the cord is cracked from age and there is a stain on a few pages.

Small prices to pay though.

And here it is from a vintage Playboy mag, the drink may have died but the glass lives on.

Thanks!!! I'll be serving these this evening!

Found these this morning.

Some Planters Punch glasses. Look to be mint, never used. Anybody know if these are recent creations? Ooga Mooga has a few posted, but unknown mfg.

Also got this vintage ice bucket from Fabcraft. It has all sorts of sayings with cartoons on each panel (ahhhhhh...drunk humor). It also came with the original box.

Paid about $7.00 for all of it.

[ Edited by: dewey-surf 2009-09-27 12:53 ]

the planters punch glasses are vintage....been around way before any tiki resurgence or new tiki product appeared.....

Thanks Tipsy, they are in outstanding condition, like they never left the liquor cabinet (sad really).

L

So first there was the "Pussycat"...now"The Tomcat"

Anyone know anything about this place or if it was even a place?

An awesome glass I bought from Tipsy's etsy store (www.dskdesigns.etsy.com)

that has a naked guy on it! Hooray for male nudity!! Makes my morning o.j. taste even better

And a Bar Aid and some vintage bowling cocktail swizzles/forks
