This rum was released a few years ago but I saw it for the first time in stores recently. It's about the same price as the 12-year Appleton. What's the verdict? Does it work well in a Mai Tai? |

Good question, I saw it at Hi Time today, but since my shopping list was expensive, and my budget limited, I couldn't justify to buy just for trying. |

The reserve is an 8y.o. sitting in between the V/X and the Extra.I personally find all the Appleton range has very similiar qualities about them and that you can use any from the range for a great tasting Mai Tai. I have about 30 different rums at home and i'm constantly trying various combinations.Taste is always a matter of personal preference, and whats nice to one person might not be as enjoyable to another. One of the best combo's i have made so far that i rate as my favourites would be: Appletons V/X with Clement Terre Caraibe (agricole) |
