Shelley Berman is my absolute favorite! I have three of his albums, the classic "inside", also "Outside" and the "edge of"... Might I suggest that at some point you also include some vintage Bob Newhart cuts? "the button down mind of" is probably his best! This is all classy, swinging humor so far removed from everything that comics have done since! From a time when audiences were smarter, and comics did not need to swear much (except for Lenny Bruce, of course)and many bits were about ad execs named Gerry, and talent managers that called everyone "sweetheart","Baby" and "Kid"! Good stuff! |
