Google News Timeline Archives with interesting Tiki topics

Pages: 1 6 replies

I know people have posted stories from the Google Archive, but I searched and could not find the official topic. I figure why not have a thread dealing with and for all of the Google Timeline Tiki stories!

I found a few amazing stories and some real interesting reads regarding tiki, using the Google News Timeline Archive.
This one for instance, is an opinionated article written by a Mr. Russell Kurt for the Ocala Star-Banner paper back in 1965.
Sven might get a kick out of this one!

In case it doesn't automatically go, the actual article is on PAGE 18.

I wish I could build a Tiki Hut for $12...lol

Wonder what is at that exact location now?

Fire at Indian Rocks Beach 1963, at the Famous Tiki Gardens. Frank Byers wasn't planning to rebuild.

Whoaa, Tom's got the Google timeline fever :D It's a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, fer sure.

Interesting how so many of these articles got wire-serviced out to smaller regional papers:
Your first find was published in the L..A. Times, I reprinted it as the "prevailing opinion of the taste police" in the BOT, page 52.
The Barney West article first saw its first light in a California paper, too, I had posted it here:

But most of the Tampa/ St Petersburg/ Tiki Gardens articles that Mo-Eye found were entirely local:

...and on and on: Just put 'Florida Tiki' author: ' Mo-Eye' into the search engine here, and you will find over a dozen fascinating articles.

Or, just click on this:
http://www.tikicentral.com/search.php?term=Florida+%22Tiki%22&submit=Search&srch=both&frm=all&usr=Mo-Eye&srt=newest

Much work remains to be done for outside of Florida articles, so keep up the good work!
