Aloha, Ohana! I have some kool personal news to share... 'The Horribly Slow Murderer With The Extremely Inefficient Weapon' -- a short comedy film (with a long title!) in which I played the leading role -- has just been (unofficially) posted (by some dude in Budapest!) on YouTube and is getting great responses. But the director (the talented Richard Gale) and I only heard about this because of the following post on the front page of today's 'Daily Dish' blog by Andrew Sullivan: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/03/murder-by-spoon.html It also gives a link to both the director's web-page on the film -- -- and to the film itself. But the actual YouTube page with the various feedback, etc. is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJZQZARGq5M However, be sure to click the little button underneath that says "HQ", 'cause then you'll see a high-def version that looks a lot sharper, though you may need to wait for it to fully load first or it may keep seizing up on you, depending on your computer. ANYWAY, my home tiki lounge -- Paradise Cove -- (viewable in detail on both this site and Critiki) makes a very brief cameo appearance in the film during the "again and again and again" section (YOU'LL know what that is once you've seen it) in which a gun goes off with the twinkling tiki lights and glowing green pufferfish, etc., in the background. Freeze-frame it and you'll get a better look! Well, the film has been doing super well at various festivals and just won THREE awards a couple weeks ago at The Beverly Hills Shorts Festival, including the grand prize of Best Film In Festival out of 61 movies in all genres! And we have about a dozen more festivals coming up throughout the year, so I'm pretty jazzed, needless to say! Okay -- that's the deal. And enjoy the flick! But -- WARNING: it DOES have some bits of blood and violence and adult language if you're ultra sensitive to that kind of thing, but it's fairly mild by current R-rated film standards. Also, it's in the form of a faux coming-attractions TRAILER, so don't be confused -- i.e., in THIS case, the trailer IS the movie! Cheers & Mahalos :drink: :tiki: [ Edited by: KreepyTiki 2009-03-25 00:07 ] [ Edited by: KreepyTiki 2009-03-25 01:59 ] [ Edited by: KreepyTiki 2009-03-25 02:41 ] [ Edited by: KreepyTiki 2009-03-25 19:24 ] |

Great short...wow, a ton of work must have gone into that. You looked totally deranged by the end of it, hilarious! I am going to share this with my son and my nephew, it is right up their alley. |

Thanks! And you're so right! A ton of work DID go into it -- 22 days of grueling shooting at God knows how many locations, as a matter of fact. Because of the film's format being that of a rapidly edited trailer, we actually had to do as many set-ups and feature as many locations as you would for a full-length action movie! And, believe me, getting hit with the "extremely inefficient weapon" literally thousands of times was a... well... rather interesting experience, to say the least! |

Thanks, guys! MUCHO appreciated! And over on YouTube this thing is turning into a true phenomenon. At the moment it's gotten over 43,000 hits in just 4 days and has been made the #32 Top Ranked of the millions of videos on the site, and is the #48 Top Favorited video as well! Is that frickin' coolamundo or WHAT?! (Ummm... I'm a little stoked, can you tell?) Anyway, fellow TC'ers, the director MAY have to pull it soon for legal reasons due to the many upcoming film festival dates we have, so if ya wanna see it, better do it SOON! And P.S. to Mr. NoNaMe -- thanks again for leading me to that great peacock chair I'd been longing for! It added the perfect finishing touch to my lounge! Cheers & Mahalo :drink: :tiki: |

Yep -- sadly, the YouTube link is no more! The director had to yank it for legal reasons, but his "Official Authorized Version" of the film WILL be reappearing on YouTube this coming June, so stay tuned! I'll post another alert once it's up and running again. But, hey, we managed over 44,000 hits in just 4 DAYS! Not too shabby, eh? Cheers & Mahalo :drink: :tiki: |

Okay, Folks... Here we go again! It seems some 15 year old kid -- this time in Warsaw -- has re-posted the film on YouTube! Problem is that each time someone tries to re-post it, IF they've used the most recently posted version (like the one this kid just put up there) the quality gets worse and worse. And right now it looks pretty crappy. BUT I've used a little trick I know to modify the link so it looks sharper and clearer than it normally would. Still not what it should be, but, hey, watch it while you can, 'cause I know the director will be yanking it at some point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q75RYiM6Yc0&fmt=18 Still, this thing sure proliferates, like the proverbial Hydra's heads! Just in the last 15 or 20 minutes the # of hits jumped from 200 or so to 694 ('course it got up to 44 THOUSAND the last time the plug was pulled), and it's currently the #2 Top Rated comedy today on YouTube in Poland! (lol It's a strange world) Enjoy! :drink: [ Edited by: KreepyTiki 2009-03-26 23:00 ] |

And then it's "bye bye" to the "Gino Saji" ("Silver Spoon" in Japanese!) At least until some other dude in Hungary or another Eastern Bloc country posts it again! :drink: :tiki: |

YES!!! After a verrrrry loooonnnng err... umm... "pause" -- and after a DOZEN (count 'em!) nifty film festival AWARDS throughout the globe (Yay!), including the recent FanTasia festival in Montreal in which we were in competition with almost 200 other short films and STILL won the Grand Prize! -- after ALL of that FINALLY comes... The OFFICIAL YouTube Release (in glorious High Def) of Richard Gale's 'The Horribly Slow Murderer With The Extremely Inefficient Weapon'!!! And HERE is the LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VDvgL58h_Y And THIS time you folks won't have the frustration of going there only to find it had just been yanked for having been posted without the director's permission! Yep -- THIS time that creepy "Spoonatic" is here to STAY! Also, make sure to take a peek at the film's Official Website -- http://www.richard-gale.com -- for news re. the upcoming release of the jaw-dropping deluxe Special Edition DVD with TONS o' added stuff NOT seen in the release version PLUS lots of befind-the-scenes and 'Making Of' goodies as well! And, last but not least, for all you home lounge/bar fans, check out the blink-and-you'll-miss-it (but real purdy) glimpse of my 'Paradise Cove Tiki Lounge' at the 05:34 mark of the 10 minute, 17 second running time. (MORE of the Cove to be seen eventually in the jam-packed DVD!) Well, I guess that's it for now. So please go and show some Big Aloha Spirit for Mr. Gale's wiki-wiki-wacky, totally gonzo, and Extremely Efficient lil' epic!!! Cheers! :drink: :tiki: |

I have a terribly slow connection, I guess, so the entire movie was buffering and loading the entire time (making 10 minutes into about 15). Usually I give up watching but this time I was strangely compelled to continue watching...again, and again, and again, and again...! Nice job and LOVED the make-up. I was reminded of the old Valley Girl saying though - Gag me with a spoon! LOL |
