And for those surf music fans, come to Don's earlier to see Slacktone, The Eliminators, The Boardwalkers and OuterWave starting at 2pm in the Longboard Room! What a Day! What an Evening! I am flying out next Monday to start the new gig in Sacramento and am planning to make my way south to DtB for Mariepolooza on Memorial Day weekend. Are any other Nor Cal ohana planning to go south as well?

Just got our brown paper tickets for the event in the mail!

Since it is my birthday and we don't want to misbehave and drive, we were going to get a room at one of the nearby joints. So, which one do you recommend and do you know if we can reserve it online.

And now I must sit down and work on our "Me and Marie" jewelry set.

Shanna and I just purchased our tickets and look forward to it. I'd like to volunteer to help since I have plenty of free time now that school is coming to an end.

Jen - we're doing the same thing - birthday girls unite!

Some hotel feedback: We've stayed at the Ocean View Lodge before (within walking distance from Don's) on New Years and Halloween. You can reserve it online. While it was fine for what it is, the owners are extremely rude, and a little bizarre. They tend to pressure you to leave your room well before check-out time, and even OPEN ROOM DOORS without knocking. We had read about them doing that in online reviews, but just wrote it off, until they did the same thing to us. The owner actually opened the room door while we were laying in bed the morning of our check-out - no knock, no emergency, no explanation. He just muttered sorry, and pulled it shut again. He fully knew we were in there as well. CREEPY. Needless to say, I don't recommend that hotel for that reason! There are two other low budget motels within walking distance (the 777, and something else) that fellow TC'ers have stayed at, and hopefully someone will chime in on one of those. I recall hearing that they're also your basic divey motels, so as long as you know and expect that, you should be fine. Depends on what you're hoping for. Unfortunately, I think the Ocean View Peepshow (oops, I mean "Lodge") was supposed to be the nicest of the three.

For this last New Year's eve we stayed at The Hampton Inn on Seal Beach Blvd, which was where Don's had a partnership, and it was great. The rate was reasonable, the room was really nice, and it's right next door to a Del Taco, which came in very handy at 2:00am. It's also in the same lot as a Starbucks, which came in very handy at 11:00am. It's a few miles from Don's, so you do have to take a cab, but I think the ride was only about $8. We're going to stay there again this time, and if you guys do too, we'd be happy to share a cab back if we all last to the end.

Can we buy a ticket at the door?

Only IF it doesn't sell out, Soccer Tiki is wanting everybody to buy tix online to keep all the money in one place, and easy to transfer to Marie.

On short notice, I didn't have enough time (or talent :) ) to make something spectacular. I made this Marquesan Bowl, about 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall. Maybe it can be hung from the ceiling and blindfolded people can pay a buck to swing a bat at it  If it can be used to raise $10, it will cover one of Marie's aspirin in the hospital :D

Actually, it is easier to keep track of the attendance AND makes it easier to anticipate a possible sell-out!!!

I'll be there with as many people as I can convince to go.

I brought this up at the OC Bartender's Cabinet meeting this week to make sure that more of the bartending community knew what was going on as well.

Hopefully we can help ensure that this sells out.

Very Cool!!!!!
Mahalo!!!!

Will there be a schedual of the Times each band is playing?? I have to try to juggle two events on the same day.

The wristbands are in! C'mon everyone, there's 1000 of these things and I don't want any leftovers! Ten days left! I've heard talk about a higher price at the door, I would buy them through the website for $25 while you can.

Claudette (aka Ms. Fluff) would like to donate these ceramic gals she made
for the MariePalooza auction.

Get well soon Marie!

Jason, just have those beauties delivered to my shack and I'll make sure that most of them make it to the gig!!! :P No, they'll all make it! And they look awesome! There are so many wonderful items coming in for the auction and raffle!!! I think the opportunity to win some of the prizes is worth the admission donation alone!!! http://www.mariepalooza.com/services

And a black paper/colored pencil drawing of everyone's favorite swordfish sign:

They both look better in person...

That drawing is very cool.

Looking good Eric!

Eric-That sign looks better than the real thing!!! When I look at it I feel like I'm right outside the Dagger Bar!

Mahalo!

These drawings always look like scribbles on black paper to me when I start them, but they somehow come together at the end!

Just glad I can help out!

This is going to be an amazing event... I am blown away by the tremendous outpouring of love and the effort everyone is putting into it!

YAY for TC Ohana!!!
