New guy here. Been checking out this great forum for a few weeks now and joined a few days ago. Inspired me to create a diorama. Comments and suggestions gladly accepted. Andy [ Edited by: andyboy 2010-06-14 19:09 ] [ Edited by: andyboy 2010-06-14 19:26 ] |

Andyboy, Been thinking about creating a "tiki-themed" train layout. When I get past my other 20 projects I am working on I just might give you a holler! How much time did that take you to do? Are you thinking about making the volcano blow? Cool beans...maybe? PTD |

Hi Psycho: Took about 100 hours. The palms took about 2 hours each - cutting the leaves. Sure any time I can give help let me know. Oh yeah. A erupting volcono - thought about it - maybe a bank of colored LEDs Andy [ Edited by: andyboy 2010-06-14 19:37 ] |

I like the word "diorama". I also like the spookiness of your diorama. Mmmmm... why does it give me that vibe? Could be the lighting of the photo, or the lack of naked native women. Just a suggestion. |

Really swell. The only suggestion I'd make is adding a bit of taller undergrowth near the buildings and tiki for added dimension. Some plans similar in construction to the palm fronds. Other than that it's really cool. LEDs in the volcano would be neat. It seems you could create flaming torches fairly easily with a single LED at the end of a hollow piece of bamboo, a bit of red cellophane material around the LED. |

WOW What great feedback. Bongo Bungalow: Naked women are always good. woofmutt: You have a good eye when you say that it needs undergrowth. That was bothering me. Just have to figure out how to do it. Perhaps on my next effort. This one has been modified (cut in half) and will be going up on ebay this evening. All be posting the link in the appropriate forum later for anyone interested. I've saved the volcano and will turn it into a waterfall. If it turns out I'll post the pics. Thanks very much for your comments and suggestions. Andy |
