Whoa! Well done JUAN-O!

Dang John-O, whatcha gonna do with that extra ticket? hehehhe

John-O beat me to it, Hail to the king!

J

Masters of Reality had a version as well...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9JD5QOdI58

Very Good John O

now what about the other 2 songs,
the 2 you posted were wrong.

anybody???

ATP???

I would guess Pipeline and Miserlou, but those are both surf tunes.

J

I made up the last two because it's a trick question.

Don't fall into BTD's trap !! :D

its not a Trap.
its serious.

Chris you would be half right
all though Misirlou is a Middle Eastern song.
Many Exotica musicians have played it.
So in that Case I would accept it as an Exotica song.

what is the next song?

Jeff(btd)

[ Edited by: bigtikidude 2010-07-21 23:18 ]

J

It is a trick question. El Dorado and Miserlou were never Exotica songs.

El Dorado or Mr. Moto? lol, I'm totally guessing now

Ahh, he beat me to it

[ Edited by: chrisandsarahb 2010-07-21 23:20 ]

J

It's still a trick question. Nelson Riddle (El Dorado) was Lounge.

John,
hush....

ElDorado was a vocal, does not count, must be instros.

Chris, try to do a search on the net, for their discography.

I don't think there is a studio version of it.
It was a Live recording.
and on a compilation cd.
for a college in Bay area.

J

I'm having some El Dorado right now listening to "Living in Darkness".

Next up is Channel 3 and the Adolescents. I guess I can't bad mouth the OC too much. :D

Cause the OC rules,
its just that the LA folks hate to admit it.

said from behind the Orange Curtain.

Jeff(btd)

Out Of Limits?

P.S. I used to own a cassette of "Living In Darkness". Played it til it died.

I'm taking Sarah. You can stay home and clean the house. :D

Chris,

you are so close, but you will probably never get it.
I will give you a ticket. for the effort.
maybe John O, can give you his extra one( for your better half),
if he doesn't have a date for the event.

I will keep this open, for anyone else.
1 ticket for the answer.
Besides Misirlou,
what song did Agent Orange do, that is a Instro,
and is related to Exotica Music?

Its a live recording, and its on a cd comp from a SF bay area college.

Jeff(btd)

lol, sweet!

John-O, I always clean the house and cook too!

Your not talking about the songs "Out Of Limits" & "Surfbeat" ?

no those are normal surf songs.
think more along the Exotica lines.

its a surf song by a 60s surf band.
but the sound of the song and title are not normal surf.

the answer is hiding on the web.
keep searching.

Jeff(btd)

Bite The Hand That Feeds

bwahahaha
no sir.
its not a song on one of their regular albums, and or singles.

Jeff(btd)

I don't think I have heard it then.

My Last guess is "Shakin' All Over"
I am old and my mind is going.....Ohhhh Myyyyyyyy!

probably not.
like I said, its on a cd comp, from a Bay area college,
and its a live recording.

I have the link that I will post after someone wins, or no one wins.
and I will play you the song.

but keep searching.

Jeff(btd)

ATP,

I can tell you if you want.
but then you will be disqualified,
:o

I need to go to bed, but you can stay up all night searching discography web sites if you'd like.

Jeff(btd)

I am working so I don't have time to serch the Interwebs right now
I will just have to live with it, John-O do you have the answer?

Obscure one Jeff, good work!

I don't think John O could get this one either.

the funny thing is,
Hakalugi got it,
but couldn't go.
So he deleted his answer and my reply,
and nobody saw it.
:o

Jeff(btd)

can somebody photoshop this pic for me, please?
Leave the surf guy, but put a little punk dude, and a Tiki where the Hapa Haole and Lounge ones are.
and then in the middle, put the words So. Cal.

Thanks,
Jeff(btd)

My guess for the song you are looking for is "Exotic" from the Surfin the Pit CD-R it could be the cover of "Skinny Dip" or "Fadeaway"?

If I am correct, give my tickets to Atomic Tiki Punk!

Later,

PTD

PTD,

you are correct sir.
Exotic it is. Originally done by the Sentinels from Central California.
I didn't know about that CDR, but it is also on this compilation.
track 3.

I couldn't find the Original on youtube,
but here is a Modern Band, the Nebulas playing Exotic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmEVMwsop20

Now I wish that a modern Exotica band would take that song,
and do it up old school style.
should transfer well, if slowed down.

Jeff(btd)

Here is the link to the CD-R I found:

http://www.leftfield.org/~reverb/reviews/live/agent1555.html

PTD

Great tune, never heard it before. I totally agree Jeff. That CD-R looks killah! What a great collection all in one. Now, how to find a copy?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWQWBYgH9Z4

[ Edited by: chrisandsarahb 2010-07-22 09:06 ]

Chris,

I didn't know about the CDR,
I need to ask Mike if he can make me a copy of it.

as for the cd comp from the radio station.
long out of print.
good luck finding one on the net.
if you do, it will probably be pricey.
as they were 50 dollar donation to the radio station to get them originally.

Jeff(btd)

You ain't kidding, looks like its super hard to find. Totally looking forward to the show, so many bands! Lots to film! Dig it!

I got a line on getting a copy of it.

helps to know lots of bands.

Jeff(btd)

Rad! You da Man! I'll have to get a copy of your copy.

fer sure, workin on gettin the copy in a few weeks.

got another 2 trivia questions just for the hell of it.

Mike from Agent Orange started a Trad. Surf band, not surf punk in the mid 90s as a for fun side project.

what was the name of the First line up,and who was in the band?

what was the name of the 2nd version of the band, and who was in it?

Jeff(btd)

Nice job you guy's, I was stumped!
Psycho Tiki D you the Tiki Man!

ATP,

that would be Mike's surf band version 2.
with Rick from The Halibuts on rhythm guitar,(and notice the song Skinny Dip that AO did on a 45, was a Halibuts song) Steve Bridowski from the Insect Surfers on drums, and Agent Orange's roadie, Shawn on Bass.

They put out a 4 song 45, and a cdr, and both had a surf instro version of Blood Stains.
too funny.

Jeff(btd)

[ Edited by: bigtikidude 2010-07-22 23:30 ]

The first band would have been "Wipe Out" with Mike Palm, Brent Liles and Derek O'Brien.

Basically an alias to Agent Orange. Not familiar with Trad though?

Did I win more tickets?? If I did, give them to chrisandsarahb!

Thanks,

PTD

Brent Liles, what a sad story there, I was friends with Brent since he was a kid, threw the Social Distortion days
He got into drugs for a long time & became a hollow version of who he used to be, we tried to help him out for a while, gave him a job
which he just blew off,got to be very hard being around him, strangely he was killed in a bicycle accident and not drug use, some years back
