We put on one of these rum-soaked celebrations of Polynesian kitsch every year it seems now. Last year was a riot and this one is shaping up to be quite some fun as well. (Sorry you can't make it Jeff! ) Gird your livers and come on down! Here's the official blurb: **Experience the Polynesian swank of yesteryear on Sunday, September 26th as Phoenix's Rhythm Room is transformed into a tropical oasis for Zog's 4th Annual Tiki Lounge Party! This year's event will feature surf rock acts, high-energy Hawaiian and Tahitian dance ensembles, DJs spinning vinyl exotica, live tiki carving, VIP hot rod parking, local tiki crafts and lowbrow artists, island BBQ, exotic drink specials, door prize giveaways, and much more! Entertainment by: The Hula Girls http://www.myspace.com/thehulagirlsband and The Hawai'i and Pacific Islander Club Dancers http://www.asu.edu/clubs/hawaiipacific/ Visit Zog's web hut at: http://zogprod.com [ Edited by: Zog 2010-09-08 01:30 ] |

Good news! Zog is still busy piling more and more on the bill. New artists/vendors added. Gretsch guitars, crazy gourmet food trucks, more lowbrow and Tiki folk arts, and PBR all jumped in today. And DJ Zippy is returning from the previous three years. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, huh guys? We'll take them all the same. But wha tha? Since when is Pabst Blue Ribbon a Tiki drink? Hey, paying customers is paying customers, we figure. Hope we get the go-ahead from the rum concession tomorrow. Please...if there is a (Tiki) god, we are praying for rum...then we'll be good all year, promise! As if coming out from the inky black of the moonless desert night, the wee Sonoran Tiki fest assumes a recognizable form. Or something like that. Okay, maybe Zog is a tad ahead of himself in the rum-tasting department. [ Edited by: Zog 2010-09-16 19:29 ] |
