The Bamboo Lounge (Formerly the Trailerpark Tiki Bar)

Our tiki bar is a work in progress, but we got a lot done this year. Last year it was a yard full of dirt and a patio full of dusty lawn furniture. It's coming along slowly. Here are some pics.

This is the hot tub corner and the tiki we call 'slim shady'.

Love the atmosphere in the pool area. I'll bet it's beautiful when lit at night.
Where did you find the mural on the wall? Did you paint it? Really cool. :)

Yes, the night lighting looks cool. The mural was actually a lucky find. A co-worker said a relative was renovating an old basement/tiki bar and they were going to trash this mural. She said it was an older couple that built the bar and the style looks very mid-century. I paid 40 bucks for shipping and voila! I am currently making some faux bamboo to frame the second half of the mural. The mural was origally about 16 feet wide by 5 feet high but I had to cut it in half.

Nice work.. Looks cool!

Looks like your ready to host... but I would be afraid of the mural fading in the Vegas, sun!!!

Very cool! Did they paint it themselves or was it a store bought item?

Sorry I'm not good at names...but it is looking nice!!!

I bought some clear shellac, and I was going to coat it for protection. I never met the owners of the mural but it is signed.

Hey Trailerpark Tiki!

That Super-Cool Tiki by the pool looks mighty familiar....

Wherever did you get it?

I'm likin' that mural too! Good score Trailerpark!

Of course, that tiki came from you, Tiki Lee. btw I love him, he has a good home by the waterfall under the palm tree.

I hope the pictures get reposted! Darn Hard Disc failures!!

Really cute stuff!

Well, its been 3 years since I embarked on this tiki adventure and I've collected some things and hung up some things. Here's some updates on the Trailerpark Tiki Bar.

Aloha!

Very cool!!!! Love that mural as well. Great collection too. :D

Thank you. I've learned that you're never done unless you call Bamboo Ben for help, but that would take some of the fun out of it. Part of the fun has been acquiring the interesting tikis, art and lamps.

Great tikis!

Really dig that mural, who is the artist and where did you obtain it if ya don't mind!

Fabulous and I agree...mural is exceptional.

I acquired the mural from a friend of a friend that bought a mid-century home in Chicago that had a tiki bar in the basement. The new owners were going to trash the mural and remodel the home, so I offered to pay for the shipping and I got it practically for free. The artist is still a mystery but I would love to know myself.

Started renovating my tiki bar ceiling. First I painted it brown:

Then I got to work on making some faux bamboo in my garage:

My garage is a freakin' bamboo factory.

...and while I was waiting for the paint to dry, I dabbled with the router.

I see some burning in my future. Stay tuned for more.
