Trader Vic's Mai Tai garnishes-what do the components represent - Tiki Drinks and Food

I came across this explanation, so I wanted to share it. The 1/2 squeezed lime shell represents a tropical island. The pineapple spear or chunk with a cheery represents the sunset. And the spring of mint, (which should always be slapped in your hand once or twice to bring out the juices), represents a palm tree. "Mai Tai-Roe Ae"!
