Very sorry for the lame teaser everyone, but we know how the t.c. schedule gets booked up... and it always seems that everything gets scheduled on the same dates. So here's what we were thinking: Thanksgiving Friday party at Futura House and then those who survive and are willing to make the trek, we'd have a massive caravan to Las Vegas for a house warming on Saturday night. (those who wish to crash at the pads would be welcome to of course.) The thing is - we have 2 great party locations, but the budget has been tight lately - so it would have to be a massive pot luck experience, more along a salon vibe where everyone hosts and brings what they can to the table. What do you think - should we attempt it? |

I'm game! I'm having to abandon/postpone my plans to jet to Mexico City with Formika (hopefully we'll do it someday!), so it looks like I'll be available that weekend (and I've never been to Vegas, baby). |

well it figures... Humuhumu and atomicchick - since you're the ones who responded... we're gonna just have to have an impromptu weekend gurl gathering one of these next few weekends as soon as humu's in town. |

I'm going to Sin City the weekend of November 14/15. Apparently premature, but if anything develops, please notify me. |

after that long and winding post above and the party in search of a date. humuhumu is finally here in town now and... so like us girls went out and cruised the strip a bit. now it's time to have a little vegas t.c. get-together... finally... i know it's last minute, but if anyone is available to hang in Vegas on Saturday night - p.m. or email or phone me. we'll get together for drinks at El Ranchito (my house) and then hit a bar or 2 or 3 or 4... |

Futura Girl has been taking very good care of me here in Vegas -- I'm getting the whirlwind tour for my very first visit. It all started when we hit the strip right after I arrived at 1am Thursday night (after spending the day at Disneyland getting my very first Annual Pass, no less). El Ranchito is coming along very nicely, and has some fantastic old-Vegas-inspired artwork by Futura's cousin, Cherry Capri. You can hear the screams of people on the rides at the top of the Stratosphere from the house. I've been in nearly every casino on the Strip, thanks to wonderful tour guiding by Futura, and last night by both Futura & hula hula. Yesterday I went out alone during the day while the locals slept & hit Sunset Park to see one of the moai from Aku Aku, carved by Eli Hedley. It's great that it's been saved and given a place of honor, but it feels out-of-place over there. Then I visited Red Rooster, which was overwhelming. Tiki Lee's booth is great! I didn't get any tiki stuff, but I found a weird old lamp I like. I've got a handful of pictures in my camera, but until I'm able to get my computer connected to the internet, I can't post them. hula hula's got a few from Taboo Cove last night. I went in there with very low expectations based on what I'd heard, but I thought it was okay. Not outstanding or anything, but not all that bad. We went there pretty early; the music was bad but not terrible, as it wasn't very loud. I had a Trader Vic's Grog, which was better than I'd expected it would be. If it were overrun by TCers, it would be a swell joint. I was thinking it would be cool if we could rig up wireless headsets for TCers to wear in places like this, so we could pipe in our own music from a central iPod or something. Mahalo nui loa to Futura Girl for opening her home to me and showing me such a grand time. I think I'm gonna go hit some coasters today. |
