Pages: 1 6 replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Tiki Central and Tiki Mug collecting. I'm currently located in New York City. Are there any other enthusiast and collector within the Tri-State area?

Also, Does any one know of any "Tiki" events that happen here?

Cheers,

Marlo

I am going to be in NYC to visit my daughter the last week in September.

Anyone up for some drinks? What are the definitive places to visit?

Otto's Shrunken Head & PKNY are the only actual tiki bars serving tiki drinks (in mugs!) that i know of in manhatten. there are dozens of high-end cocktail places that serve tropical drinks though.

if you like spooky kitschy decor you can check out the slaughtered lamb pub or either of the two jeckyll & hyde clubs, which offer anamatronic "entertainment" as well as their own branded headhunter mugs.

if you make your way over to brooklyn you can check out the zombie hut.

Reach out as it gets closer to your visit - if you have to go solo - hit PKNY and Ottos for sure
Lani Kai is great too.

I'm sure the NYC Ohana can help you out!

If you are in town on a Tuesday, we can organize a local tikiphile get-together at our exotica DJ gig at PKNY.

Yes, keep in touch.

I was just reminded of another tiki bar in the East Village, King Tut's Wah-Wah Hut, that I haven't been to in maybe 15 years. It's in the basement of the Niagra restaurant, on 7th Street and Avenue A, or was.

Anyone know if it's still there?

My recollection was that it had a good vibe but the drinks came out of a slushy machine and not acceptable.

They have a Facebook page....
