Happy National Mai Tai Day....

MAHALO.

Esta noche:

thanks for this tikitonga. in honor, we mnade up three mai tai versions:

first a young turks version, using El Dorado 5 y.o., and a pseudo-generic Barbados gold rum, a nice jab ot the face;

then a 5-rum mai tai w/ 1/4 oz appleton v/x, 1/2 oz ron de barralito 3 star, 1/4 oz pusser's, 3/4 oz Leblon brazilian rum, and 1/4 oz Tanduay 15 y.o. rum;

and finally, a delicioso mai tia, w/ 1 oz Ron de Pampero and 1 oz 15 y.o. Tanduay.

of these, the delicioso was the smoothest and allowed best for the orgeat/curacao/lime flavors to come through; but, the 5 rum version was the most complex and the most interesting.

thank,s Trader Vic!

Anyone know how/when/why/by whom "National Tiki Day" was created? Any significance to the date? It seems to have just appeared out of nowhere (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Oh, hell - I can put myself through two of 'em, if it has to be that way...
