Recipe: Drink idea - thoughts ?

I was sitting outside in the sun totally parched yesterday so I went about making myself a drink and discovered I was low on supplies... So I made something with what I had laying around that really turned out pretty decent so I wanted to share and get some feedback... :)

Combine in tall shaker over a few ice cubes : (makes 2 servings)
2 shots Flor de Cana gold rum (I used 4 year)
4 shots coconut rum (40 proof variety)
1 shot banana liqueur
1/2 can coconut juice (mine was "with pulp")
top off shaker with "Simply Limeade"

Shake violently (heh).

Prepare two glasses with ice cubes, pour 1-2 oz. soda water into each glass and then top off with the shaker contents. Give it a little stir if needed to mix the soda water in.

Garnish glasses with a lime slice.

So - what do you guys think ? Been done already ?

I can tell you it goes down pretty dern smooth on a hot day...

Cheers !

Sorry, don't have half that stuff (coconut rum has been banned in my house because of my MIL). I know gold rum and fresh coconut juice go together very well. Maybe try fresh lime instead of bottled limeade. I also tend to use fresh banana instead of liqueur. Try it without soda and see what happens. Maybe....GO SHOPPING! :D Sometimes the mother of invention is the absence of a complete ingredients list.

Hey, thanks for the feedback ! ...and yep of course I went shopping since then and have stocked up the bar again.

I was kinda worried I had committed a forum faux-pas here - although some of the ingredients are "tiki-ish" it's not exactly a classic haha... I also agree about inspiration sometimes coming from an incomplete ingredients list ! ...Funny story about the coconut rum and the MIL !

Using fresh banana and lime and giving it another try sounds like a plan, maybe I'm onto something here... Hopefully I'll have it perfected by the time Tiki Oasis rolls around next month ! (You know, practice makes perfect !).

Cheers -
Rob
